Hybrid Learning Plan
Brief Summary of Plan | Hybrid Learning Model | Fully Remote Learning | Special Education | Food Service | Transportation | Health & Safety | Do Your Part | ACTION NEEDED | Looking Ahead
Dear Woodridge 68 families:

At last night’s Board of Education special meeting, the School Board voted to move the district from remote learning to a hybrid model with a remote option. While a lot of plans have already been developed to make this happen, there is still much work to do before students return to the classroom on October 22. Please take the time to read through this email, follow the links to the supplementary information that is posted online, and make the requested commitments so we can move forward quickly and efficiently.
Brief Summary of Plan
  • Hybrid model of instruction for all students with a remote option starting October 22; October 21 to be used as a Remote Learning Planning Day
  • Students who choose the hybrid option will attend school in-person two days a week, remote learning three days a week
  • In-person instruction days will be full school days
  • Remote learning will be combination of independent/live virtual learning
  • Parents commit to hybrid or remote learning by October 8, commitment through December. Requests to change for second half of year, parents notify by December 1
  • If conditions improve, the District will work toward resuming full time in-person instruction
  • Prepared to return to full-time remote learning if DuPage County moves into substantial transmission (red) category and the DuPage County Health Department recommends closure in consultation with the District, Governor issues executive order, or Illinois goes back to Phase 3 of Restore Illinois Plan
  • If Woodridge 68 must return to full remote according to public health guidelines, district would most likely not revisit the issue until the start of the second semester

Special Education
For students receiving special education services, Woodridge 68 will follow a multi-stage approach to in-person instruction beginning October 6. The stages include full remote learning with in-person special education assessments and evaluations (currently in place), intermittent instruction to support remote learning, targeted instruction for students in specialized programs (MLP/Transitions/Early Childhood), hybride instruction, and ful in-person return. The detailed plan is posted on the district’s hybrid/remote learning website and includes information about targeted students and services, description of services, group size, in-person duration, rationale and transportation.

Food Service
Woodridge 68 will continue to provide boxed breakfast and lunch to all students according to USDA guidelines. Because the school district is moving to the hybrid learning model, the schedule for meal pick up and remote delivery will be changing. Watch for information in the coming weeks as we finalize those plans.

If your child returns to school in-person under the hybrid model, s/he will have the option of eating lunch at school or going home for lunch. This will not, however, be a day-by-day decision. Families are asked to make that commitment now through December. A number of logistics will be involved, and schools need to plan accordingly. If a student is to go home for lunch, s/he must be picked up by a parent/guardian and returned to school in the allotted time. You will not be allowed to carpool with other children outside your household.
Transportation
Bus service will resume for students who are eligible for transportation services and choose the hybrid model. Families are asked to make that commitment now through December whether an eligible student will take the bus or families will provide their own transportation.

Masks and social distancing will be required for all students on the bus, and students may be assigned a seat. Watch for more information in the coming weeks as we finalize plans.
Health & Safety
Keeping student and staff health and safety a highest priority, Woodridge 68 has developed a number of health & safety procedures as we restart learning in the classroom. Click on the links below to view them.
Do Your Part
As excited as we are to see students’ faces in-person, it is imperative that we all do our part to ensure the health & safety of our school community. Follow DuPage County Health Department guidelines, including the 3 Ws:
  • Wear a mask
  • Watch your distance
  • Wash your hands
ACTION NEEDED BY OCTOBER 8
Based on the information above and posted on the district website, families are asked to commit to the following by Thursday, October 8, 2020:

Will your student move to the hybrid learning model or continue with fully remote learning beginning Thursday, October 22, 2020? This choice for your student is effective through December 2020. Your student will not be able to move from remote to hybrid during this time.

If your student will participate in the hybrid learning model, will your student eat lunch at school or will you pick up your child for lunch? This choice is effective through December 2020. If you pick up my child for lunch, I will only transport my child(ren) and not carpool with other children outside my household.

If your student is eligible for bus transportation services, will your student ride the bus? This choice is effective through December 2020. Masks and social distancing are required for all students on the bus, and students may be assigned a seat.

Log in to Skyward Family Access and click ‘Online Forms.’ Each of the three questions listed above is a separate form. If you do not complete these forms, your school will assume you have chosen the hybrid learning model, lunch at school, and riding the bus (if applicable). If your student is not eligible for bus transportation, you may skip that form. Each of the forms must be completed for each or your students. If you have misplaced or forgotten your user name and/or password, click here.
Looking Ahead
Woodridge School District 68 administration, faculty and staff have a great deal of work ahead of them over the next three weeks. As more plans are solidified and details ironed out, we will share that information with you. The district’s hybrid/remote learning website (f/k/a remote learning) has been updated with the information in this email and will have more posted in the weeks to come. Use it as your go-to resource of information. How to find the hybrid/remote website? Go to woodridge68.org and click on the ‘Select a School’ dropdown menu in the upper right of the screen.
