From the Head of School: Faculty Changes
Temporary Music Teacher Shadowing Mrs. Bowling
As many of you know, music teacher Stephanie Bowling is expecting her first child in January. Her replacement while on maternity leave, Cindy Beirne, will begin shadowing her during rehearsals for the Thanksgiving program and in December. Mrs. Beirne will lead all the spring performances. She has been teaching for nearly 25 years in public and private schools, most recently at Chattanooga Christian School. Please join us in congratulating Mrs. Bowling and welcoming Mrs. Beirne.
Bright Afternoons and Bright Days Directors
Christy Lusk
Rachel Desmond
Kendra Reasor
As announced earlier, Mary Bosshardt, director of Bright Afternoons and Bright Days, will be taking the place of first grade teacher Merrill Levine. Our Assistant Head of School Christy Lusk, who has been working closely with Mrs. Bosshardt, will become director of Bright Afternoons with oversight for our afternoon program. Bright Days, our summer program, will be overseen by school counselor Rachel Desmond and third grade teacher Kendra Reasor. They will share director duties over the summer. Mrs. Bosshardt has done a great job with both of these programs, and we expect the transitions to be fairly seamless.

If you have a question about Bright Afternoons, please continue to use the same direct phone number: 423-265-0024. A Bright Afternoons counselor will staff the desk from 2 to 6 p.m. For specific questions, please contact Mrs. Lusk directly through email at [email protected]. Registration for winter/spring after school classes will begin in December. Look for more information coming soon.

Registration for Bright Days will begin in late January, and more information will be available in January. For questions, please use the Bright Days email: [email protected].
Bright Music Days are Thursday and Friday
Last year, we held Bright Music Day for the first time thanks to the Aldridge/Patten Fund for Visiting Artists, which was started by alumni Fontaine Patten Moore and Henry Aldridge, both from the Class of 1955. This year, we are pleased to welcome the Lee University Percussion Ensemble, which will be performing and meeting with classes this Thursday and Friday. The ensemble will conclude the two days with a performance Friday afternoon at 2:15 p.m. Parents are welcome to attend the performance in the Centennial Theater.
Thank You for Taking the Survey
Please take a few minutes to complete the survey sent to all parents by the Southern Association of Independent Schools (SAIS) last week. Thank you to the more than 130 parents who have completed the survey so far! If you haven’t responded yet, please do so! Your opinions and perceptions matter a great deal, and we need to hear from you. If you have not received an email asking you to participate, please contact Elizabeth Davis at [email protected] , and we will make sure you have a chance to participate.
The survey should only take about eight minutes to complete. The deadline is  November 13, 2018.
Used Uniform Sale Wednesday
Stock up on long- and short-sleeved uniform shirts, pants and other items at the used uniform sale this Wednesday from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Treehouse (second floor of the main foyer at the columns entrance). There also will be plain polo shirts, both long- and short-sleeved, to be embroidered at Threads.
What to Wear?
With cooler temperatures, please make sure your child is properly dressed. Children may wear jackets and coats of any kind to school, but they must take off those jackets and coats when inside the school. If your child is cold inside, he or she needs to keep a uniform sweater or sweatshirt handy.

Friday, November 9
This is a Bright T-shirt Day and free dress day for all grades, thanks to parents who purchased this item in the Pajama Party Auction. However, the PK free dress day was not purchased. If you would like to purchase it to make sure all PK has a free dress day, please contact Kim Brown at [email protected]. The cost is $100.
