Strategic Plan: 2020-2025
The Bright School's Board of Trustees last week approved our Strategic Plan for 2020-25. In conjunction with our upcoming SAIS accreditation in March, the school has been preparing itself for continued improvement over the next five years. As you will see, the plan highlights major areas of the school while staying true to its mission. I want to thank all of those good folks who over the past year have helped us maintain our aspirational spirit and focus on what is most important at Bright School. Parents, alumni, teachers, administrators, trustees, and students have all played a significant role in guiding our hopes for the future. To read the Strategic Plan, click here .
Charleston Wrap: Goal Exceeded!
Thanks to all our families, alumni and friends for supporting Charleston Wrap. The Parents' Association raised nearly $54,000, which will be used to purchase new furniture for the fourth grade classrooms.

This means Wednesday, October 23, is officially Cow Day. Students have a free dress day and will have Chick-fil-a nuggets served at lunch. Mr. Morgan and Mrs. Kropff will be dressed as cows! Remember, students may not wear Baylor, GPS or McCallie shirts on free dress days, and make sure they wear tennis shoes for P.E. and have a jacket for chilly weather.
The school celebrated during Bright Fest Friday and recognized the overall sales winners: Chandler Eichelberger (first), Leighton and Layla Large (second), and Ward Bickerstaff (third). Then 10 students who sold items were chosen randomly to compete in a marble race: Allison Crenshaw, Harper Barto, Helen Davenport, Ashley Yim, Tessa Rafiee, Liam Tabibiazar, Evie Ranalli, Sydney Lawson, Rett Wolfford and Helena Strauch, who won a pizza party for her classmates -- Mrs. Sakich's fourth grade class.
Pajama Party Auction Starts Wednesday

Sign Up Now for Basketball
Basketball season is coming! There will be teams for grades 2-5 and ages 5-6. Boys and girls of all skill levels are welcome.

There are separate registration forms for fifth grade and grades 2-4. There will be a team for ages 5-6, but registration is not yet open. More information will be coming soon.

Please review our athletics website and complete the appropriate forms. Forms and payment are due to the office by next Monday, October 28.
Inquire about Iceland
Current third, fourth, and fifth graders are encouraged to apply for Bright School's summer trip to Iceland. From June 24-30, we will be exploring the fascinating geography and culture of one of the world's most interesting countries. We have two spaces still open, so please let us know if you are interested or would like to learn more about the trip. Just contact Mr. Morgan, Dr. Lusk, or Mrs. Blanton for details.
Front Desk Open for Business
The front desk in the main lobby is now where you stop to sign in as a visitor, sign out your child early or sign in as tardy or from a doctor or dentist appointment. Receptionist Elizabeth Jackson will greet and help you with anything you need. School secretary and nurse Kelly Jennings remains in the office across from Mr. Morgan and the bookstore.
Brr! Make Sure Your Child Is Prepared
For chilly temperatures, make sure your child has the right clothing for going outside. Students may wear any jacket or coat when arriving and leaving school and playing outside at recess. Inside the building, students may only wear jackets and sweatshirts from the bookstore or white or navy sweaters, zip-up hoodies or sweatshirts with or without the house logo. Students may not wear other jackets or coats in the classrooms or elsewhere in the building. As always, please make sure these items of clothing are labeled with your child's name.
