Outside Food Policy
In the fall, we announced changes to our policies regarding food allergies, parties and birthdays. These changes were recommended by the Wellness Committee and were put into place to promote the health, safety and well-being of our community. We believe celebrations are a fun part of the elementary experience but should be centered around activities instead of food.

Above all, please contact assistant heads of school Renee' Kropff or Kendra Reasor if you have questions about outside food at school. Their emails are [email protected] and [email protected].

In summary:
  • No nuts of any kind or peanut butter are ever allowed on campus.
  • Outside food is only brought to school for events planned by teachers in conjunction with room reps. This includes events such as Valentine's Day, Halloween and academic-related celebrations.
  • Sweet treats for these events may ordered from and made at school by Mary Westerwal, the Sodexo dining hall manager. Please give two weeks' notice.
  • The only outside food allowed at these events are fruit/veggie trays, Chick-fil-a trays, cheese pizza, and treats from B's Sweets, which is an approved outside vendor with which the school has formed a partnership.
  • Due to COVID-19, parents may not eat lunch with their child for birthday celebrations. No outside food or treats of any kind may be brought for the class. Parents may send non-edible trinkets to school on the child's birthday or day closest to that with notice given to the teacher in advance.
  • No other food, treats, candy or other edible items may be brought for any reason.

Our school policies regarding outside food and other items are posted on our website.

Thank you for your cooperation.
Log Into the New Student Portal
Watch for an email later today with instructions for how to log into Blackbaud, a new database that will serve as our student and family portal for contact information, report cards and enrollment contracts. All parents/guardians will need to create logins.
Read a Million Minutes!
Wow! Our students and families love to read. So far, we have all read more than 43,000 minutes. As you know, we launched the Read a Million Minutes campaign last week. When we reach one million minutes, Mr. Morgan will climb onto the roof of the school and stay there for a day and night. What will he do to pass the time? Read!
Return Sports Uniforms
If your child played soccer or basketball, please return the uniforms to school. Students may bring them to Elizabeth Jackson's desk in the main lobby. Thank you!
Coming in March: Registration for Bright Days
We are planning for Bright Days to return this summer. Bright Days is our summer program for early learners, ages 3 through rising third graders. Registration will open on March 8. Make plans for your summer to be full of Bright Days!

Bright Scene
Here's a fun way to combine the Escape Room experience with history -- a Boston Tea Party Escape Room. Fourth graders in Mrs. Von Glahn's reading class correctly answered questions about the Boston Tea Party to unlock the next level and eventually get out.
