A Message from the Head of School
I know all of us mourn for the families in El Paso and Dayton who have lost their dear loved ones this weekend. This sort of violence is hard to comprehend and, unfortunately, has become far too common in our land. It also brings to light our own worries about the safety of our children, who we also hold so dear.

This concern is not lost on us at The Bright School, and I wanted to remind everyone of the steps we've been taking to keep us safe. Last year the sheriff's department did a vulnerability assessment of our school and led our teachers in a workshop about how best to react to a dangerous situation. Following the sheriff department's list of recommendations, we will have security personnel on campus; we've replaced all doors, both interior and exterior, covered in Phase One of our capital improvements; all classrooms will have shades teachers can lower to block visibility from the outside; all teachers will have two-way radios with them whenever they are outside the school for emergencies; and the new receptionist in the front hall (beginning the first full week of school) will directly control access to the school's main entrance. Additionally, we have plans to increase camera surveillance and school-wide automatic access control for all doors.

The safety of our children is our main concern and thus will be something we monitor regularly, making changes over time to maintain an environment where great education will continue as it has for over 100 years.

Sincerely,
Signature
