Back to School Checklist
All students are back in school this week. Remember to:

  1. Complete the Ascend online health survey, which includes a temperature check, at home before leaving for school. If you have trouble with Ascend, please call Base Camp Health directly at 423-443-4532.
  2. Wear a face covering. Masks or gaiters. Any color or design but no words except Bright School.
  3. Bring two face coverings to keep at school and a water bottle to fill up. There will be no direct drinking from the water fountains. Make sure to label everything with your child's name!
  4. Stay home if you are sick.
Health Monitoring with Ascend
All families should be signed up for Ascend. This is the health monitoring survey that is required to be filled out every morning before your child arrives at school.

Families should have already received an email from Base Camp Health that contains a link specific to your family and lists your child or children who attend Bright. Please bookmark this link on your device to access it easily every morning. There is no app for Ascend.

In the morning car line, you will have to show the screen with the green check mark that indicates your child is cleared to attend school that day. If you have not completed the survey, please pull over into a parking space and complete it. It is best for the parent who drops off in the morning to complete the survey, but if not, you can text a screen shot of the Ascend screen with the check marks to the parent dropping off children. If you have a babysitter or other family member dropping off in the morning, you may share the link and passwords with that person, so they can show the screen in the car line.

If you need assistance with your account, please call Base Camp directly at 423-443-4532 or email [email protected].

On school days, you will receive a reminder email and text to log into Ascend. These texts will begin tomorrow. If you are a new family this year, you need to opt into the text messaging system we use. Please text the letter "Y" to 67587.

Ascend will let you know if your child is cleared to attend school that day. If you have any health-related questions, please contact nurse Rachel Gentry at [email protected]. Contact your child's teacher if your child is not attending school that day.
Mask Up!
Please make sure your child's face covering, whether it is a mask or gaiter, fits properly and does not fall off. Sometimes it is hard to fit small faces, so check your child's mask or gaiter before leaving for school. The face covering should cover the nose, mouth and chin and be snug on the sides. Also, remember students need to bring two face coverings to keep at school at all times. Label the face coverings with your child's name.
Complete the OTC Form
If you would like for the nurse to give your child medicine while at school please go online and fill out the Over The Counter Medication Release and Authorization form.

The nurse will keep children's Tylenol, Motrin, Zyrtec, Benadryl, and Pepto Bismol stocked for children who need any over the counter medication during the school day. Please specify which medications your child is allowed to have.

We will try other approaches first (ice, heat, rest, etc) and use medicine as a last resort. If you prefer any other OTC medicine to be given, please label it bring it in for the nurse to keep in your child's medicine bin. For questions, please contact Nurse Rachel Gentry at [email protected].
Where Does My Child Go in the Morning?
Students who arrive between 7:15 and 7:35 a.m. will gather in the Centennial Theater (grades 1-5) or library (JPK-K). The earliest children may be dropped off is 7:15 a.m. Please be ready to show your Ascend screen when you drop off.

Students who arrive after 7:35 a.m. will go directly to their classrooms.

Parents of children in early childhood may walk their children to the classrooms until Labor Day. Parents/adults bringing the children must use the outside classroom doors and wear face coverings.

In the afternoon, students in grades JPK-4 will dismiss from their classrooms, and fifth grade from the gym.
Bright Afternoons Registration Required
Students must be registered to attend Bright Afternoons after school. There will be no drop-ins of unregistered students allowed. Please visit the Bright Afternoons page to learn more. Click below to register. Bright Afternoons begins today.

Download the App
All JPK and PK and other new families should have received an email from ProCare prompting you to download the ProCare Connect app on your device. Families who signed up for Bright Afternoons also will receive an email that will contain a code needed to add your child's name to the app. Families will use a four-digit PIN to sign out children in the afternoons. If you have any questions about Procare, please contact Kendra Reasor at [email protected].
Need a Car Line Sign?
New families' carpool signs will be sent home with your child.

If your family needs one (or more) new carpool sign(s), please email [email protected] with your last name and # of signs by Friday, August 28. Each sign is $3. Please send a check for the amount to the main office with a note attached:
Carpool sign for ___(your last name)___
Avoid Parking in Reserved Spaces
Please do not park in the two spaces near the front entrance that are reserved for winners of the parking space auction. If you need to run into school even for a few minutes, do not park in these spaces. Thank you and thank you to the winning bidders!
Celebrate Birthdays with a Book
Birthdays will be celebrated differently at school this year since we will not have treats at lunch. Instead, you may join the birthday book club in the library! Your child will pick out a book that will forever be his or her birthday book. These library books have a special book plate in the front with your child's name and birthday. Your child will be the first to check out this book. Birthday books are $20 payable to Bright School Library. You may bring payment on the Phase-In Day and give it to your child's teacher or send it to school with your child. To sign up and donate, click below.
Order Items from the Bookstore
Great deals from the bookstore! We even have these cool Bright School logo masks for kids and adults. They're $6 each. Students need 2 masks to keep at school, and this is a good option. The children's masks are sold out, but a new shipment should arrive in two weeks.

Bright Scene
Bright has so many outdoor areas where children and teachers can spread out and have lessons, snack or lunch, or time for play. This is a new area with stumps placed apart for distancing, and kindergarten teacher Sonal Patel and assistant Mady Ashe were among several teachers who used it for a fun time with students during Phase-In Days.
