What's Coming in 2020?
We're now in the second year of the three-year Building a Bright Future capital campaign. This means we are planning for the renovations that will happen this summer. The 1987 wing, which includes fourth and fifth grade classrooms, will be updated. Thanks to the great work of the Parents' Association's Charleston Wrap fundraiser, we have a head start on purchasing furniture for the fourth grade classrooms.
Plan to hear more about the campaign and how you can help in the coming months. We are thankful for all the support we have received so far, raising $2.7 million of our $4 million goal.
Friday is Deadline for After School Classes
If you have not registered your child for after school classes, you can do that until Friday. Payments to the instructors must be received by Friday. Check the Bright Afternoons  website for a list of classes, days and times. Most classes begin the week of January 21, but some Monday classes begin on January 13.

Registration is again online. Please use the forms below.

If you have already signed up for classes, you should receive a confirmation email this afternoon.
Sign Up for After School Language Classes
Bright is partnering with the Chattanooga School of Languages to offer after school classes in Spanish (Mondays), Mandarin Chinese (Tuesday), and French (Wednesday). All reservations and payments will be completed through the Chattanooga School of Languages website. Check for grades, dates and costs on our Bright Afternoons webpage. Scroll below the other after school classes to access the list.
Plan Ahead for Martin Luther King Jr. Day
We will not have a regular school day on January 20 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Watch Woodshop for details about community events you can attend with your child, teachers and other families. We will offer Bright Afternoons for those who need childcare that day.
Drop-off and Pick-up Reminders
Please do not block the driveways on McDade Lane when waiting in the car line. Our neighbors who live there need to be able to leave and return during the mornings and afternoons. Also, please watch your speed in the parking lot and wait for the person ahead of you in line to move ahead instead of pulling around them to leave.
Plan Ahead: Conferences and ERB Testing
Parent-Teacher Conferences
The portal to sign up for conferences will open this Wednesday. Conferences are January 30 and 31 for grades JPK-3. Grades 4-5 have conference times throughout the week. The portal will close for grades 3-5 on January 24 and for grades JPK-2 on January 28. Just a reminder, Thursday, January 30 is a half day with dismissal at 11:30 a.m., and Friday, January 31, is a day off school. Click here to access the portal. After logging in, click "Student Profile" and then "Teacher Conferences" to schedule a time.

ERB Testing
Grades 2-5 take ERB tests this month. Your child's teacher will provide more information in the weekly blasts. We encourage parents to make sure children have a good night's rest and a healthy breakfast and be on time the day of the tests. The schedule is:
fifth grade, January 14-16; third grade, January 13-16; fourth grade, January 21-23, and second grade, January 22-23.
