Classes resume tomorrow, Tuesday, October 13. We hope are you enjoying the last day of Fall Break.

Don't forget to complete the Ascend online health survey before returning to school tomorrow.
Sign Up for After School Classes
We are excited to safely bring back a few of our teacher-led Bright after school classes this fall. To ensure the safest setting possible, we are hosting these sessions by grade-level groups only. All students will have their temperature check before entering their class.

All classes have fees associated with registration. Payment will be due before your first class either through Venmo or check. Checks should be made payable to individual instructors (NOT Bright School). Please reach out to the teacher if you have partial credits from Spring 2020. Click the button below to view the list of classes or visit our website.

Each class has limited space and registration forms are time-stamped when submitted. Families with multiple children should complete a separate form for each child. If you have questions, contact Kendra Reasor: [email protected].
Get a Flu Shot This Year
Every year we encourage families to get flu shots in the fall. This year, it's more important than ever.

According to the Centers for Disease Control: "Getting a flu vaccine will not protect against COVID-19, however flu vaccination has many other important benefits. Flu vaccines have been shown to reduce the risk of flu illness, hospitalization and death. Getting a flu vaccine this fall will be more important than ever, not only to reduce your risk from flu but also to help conserve potentially scarce health care resources."
Picture Retakes Are October 21
If your child was absent on picture day (September 23) or you do not like the proof picture, your child can have his or her picture taken on October 21. Students will be called to the theater for pictures on that day. Please let your child's teacher know your child needs a retake, so we can be ready.

If you ordered online or requested a proof emailed to you, you should have already received the proof. Other proofs were mailed home if you opted for that. All other proofs will be sent to the school, and we will send them home with your child. You can still order portraits from the proofs.
Plan Ahead: What to Wear
Bright School T-Shirt Day on Friday
Students may wear any Bright School t-shirt on Friday, October 16, including the new Spirit Shirts sold in the bookstore. Students wear uniform bottoms with the t-shirts, which can be any school t-shirt from previous years or from the bookstore.

Spirit/Costume Day on October 30
New this year -- students may wear their costumes on October 30, the day before Halloween! A few rules, though:
  • Please no costume masks that cover the entire face or face paint. Hats, hair accessories, and wigs are encouraged.
  • Students must still wear face coverings.
  • Please wear tennis shoes for P.E.
  • Remember children will still have recess and P.E., so make sure the clothing does not hinder movement.
  • Have fun!

Chilly Temperatures
If your child is cold-natured or feels cold in the classroom, please make sure he or she has a sweater, sweatshirt or jacket that can be worn inside the school. Label all clothing with your child's name! We have a very active lost and found collection. Items not retrieved in a timely manner will be donated to used uniforms or a local non-profit.
Clothing OK to wear indoors:
  • Navy, evergreen or white sweaters, zip-up hoodies or fleeces with or without the logo
  • Any Bright School sweatshirt or hoodie from the used uniform sale, bookstore or approved vendor
What is not allowed indoors:
  • Outdoor jackets or fleeces in different colors, patterns or designs that are not included above. Students may wear these coats coming into the school or outside for recess or P.E.
For more information about outerwear, visit the webpage about uniforms.

Bright Scene
Last Wednesday was a busy day around the school with several grades having special events. Fifth graders, who would have traditionally been at Camp Lookout before Fall Break, competed in Fifth Grade Family Feud. They dressed up for their themed teams and tried to guess answers they gave several weeks ago in a survey. Survey says: They had a great time!
