It's Re-enrollment Time!
Now is the time to think about re-enrolling your child for the 2019-2020 school year. Families with children in grades JPK and PK will receive enrollment contracts in the mail this week. Families with children in grades kindergarten through fourth will receive an email tomorrow with information about re-enrollment, and these families do not need to take any action unless they are not returning.
Bright Family Breakfast is Tomorrow
Join Bright families in the dining hall for breakfast on the second Tuesday of the month. Breakfast is served 7-7:45 a.m. for $3 a person. What are you cooking, Mrs. Mary?
Old fashion country breakfast:

Scrambled eggs
Grits
Yogurt with granola and blueberries
Fresh baked muffins
Parent-Teacher Conferences
The parent portal is now open for scheduling parent-teacher conferences. Conferences take place on January 31 and February 1 for grades JPK-3. Grades 4-5 have conferences during the week of January 28. To access the schedule, click here for the parent portal. After you log in, click on student profile at the top. Then click on teacher conferences on the left side. If you have more than one child, you can use the pull-down menu on the right side to choose a child and schedule a conference. If you have trouble logging in or need other help, please contact Renee' Kropff at [email protected].
Bring Donations of Oats on January 25
The third annual fifth grade vs. faculty basketball game is Friday, January 25, and we are continuing the tradition of bringing one type of food item to donate to the Chattanooga Area Food Bank.

This year, we are collecting oats in the 42-ounce canister. This is a one-day food drive, so only bring oats on January 25. And only bring 42-ounce canisters! It can be any brand of oats.

Put the canisters in a bag or box labeled with your child's name, teacher and number of canisters. The students who bring the most canisters will get front-row seats at the basketball game and compete for a prize during the game.
Reminders from Nurse Robbins
Fever and Illness
Your child must be free of fever for 24 hours before coming back to school. Using medication to reduce the fever does not count as fever-free.

Lice
Winter is the season of lice. Check your child periodically for signs of lice, particularly on the nape of the neck and behind the ears. Itching will not start until the lice have been present for two weeks or more.
Car Line Signs
If you are missing a car line sign and need a new one, please place your order today. The signs are $5. Please bring the money or check made out to The Bright School with a note saying it is for car line signs. Car line signs are the large green signs with your child's last name that go in the dashboard of your car for afternoon car line.
Testing for Grades 3-5
Grades 3-5 are taking ERB tests this month. Fifth grade tests are tomorrow through Thursday. Fourth and third grade tests are January 22-24. Please remember your child's needs a good night's rest and a healthy breakfast, and make sure your child arrives by 7:45 a.m.
Girls Lacrosse Clinic
Girls in grades 2-5 are invited to a lacrosse clinic at Bright on Saturday, January 19, from 2-4 p.m. Beginners and all skill levels are welcome to attend and try out lacrosse for the afternoon. No equipment or experience is needed. For more information, click here.
Lost and Found
Parent volunteers will be sorting the lost and found bin. If your child has lost anything, please check the bin located outside Mrs. Sharpe's classroom beside the concourse by Friday. The bin will be cleaned out and everything unclaimed will be donated to the used uniform sale.
