Building a Bright Future
Movement is important in today's classroom. Students are up and out of their chairs, moving from place to place within the room and within the school. But while they are sitting, our first, second and third graders are still able to move. That's because these classrooms have new furniture, including the Flavors Noodle Chair by Smith System (Yes, this is the real name for the brand of chair.)
These chairs are able to move as students move while sitting. The seat shifts and tilts when the child moves or turns from side to side. Also, the back of the chair leans back and can flex. The old chairs were hard and did not have any flexibility. Research has shown that movable seating makes learning easier. "Removing resistance and restriction from the seat helps the fidgety student to shift his or her efforts from fighting the chair to concentrating on the lesson," according to the manufacturer's website. If you would like to help make it possible for fourth and fifth classrooms have new furniture that improves learning, then join the Building a Bright Future Capital Campaign today!

Bright Scene
First graders dressed up like penguins on Friday and kept watch over their penguin eggs all day as part of their unit of study on penguins. They also learned about how blubber insulates penguins and other animals from the cold water. Mrs. Smtih's class is pictured.
