Dear Bright School Friends,
As you may remember, Bright School engaged in its five-year accreditation review this year, and I'm happy to announce that we have received an enthusiastic approval from the Southern Association of Independent Schools (SAIS), our accrediting agency. I want to thank all of those parents, alumni, teachers, staff, and students who participated in the process. And I'm especially grateful to Elizabeth Davis, our Director of Marketing and Communications, who served as the school's accreditation liaison with SAIS and led the school in its preparations for the accreditation visit. Great work, everyone!
Speaking of accreditation, lest you worry about the accrediting requirements for this year, our distance learning sessions will count towards the number of school days necessary to make this a complete school year. At this point I don't see a need formally to extend the school year into the summer. Decisions about summer camp and enrichment classes will come later.
I also want to say how much I admire everyone's courage, patience, and forbearance during these challenging days. A time of waiting, when we are so accustomed to lives filled with fast-paced activities and multi-faceted plans, is tough. But it's also a time when perhaps we need not focus so much on an uncertain future as to the beauty of the present, when we can be with family, when we can reconnect with those whom we love most as well as ourselves, and a time when we reflect on what's most important in our lives.
Sincerely,
