Message from Mr. Morgan: Faculty Changes
Jasmine Mathews
Mary Bosshardt
Merrill Levine
We have made a change among the kindergarten teaching team, and we are pleased to introduce Jasmine Mathews as one of the new teachers. She was Ms. Emily's assistant in PK at the beginning of the year and also was Mrs. Katie's assistant in PK part of last year. We are thankful to the parents of students in her classroom, to fellow kindergarten teachers Jana Evans and Bill Greene, her assistant Kortney Gordon and KEC instructor Sue Lyman for all their support during the teaching transition.

Another teaching position in transition is in first grade. Merrill Levine, who has been teaching at Bright since 1996, announced she is retiring in December and moving to Florida with her husband. Mary Bosshardt, who is currently director of Bright Afternoons and Bright Days, will shadow her in November and take over her classroom in January. Mrs. Levine has touched the lives of many children over her time here, and we are sad to see her leave. She will be greatly missed. Mrs. Bosshardt is eager to return to the classroom, and we thank the parents of Mrs. Levine's students, fellow first grade teachers LeAnne Sharpe and Karen Smith for their support.
Get Ready to Bid! Auction Starts Today
The Pajama Party Auction begins today and goes through November 1. Watch for an email soon to let you know when the auction is live. The email will have a link to the auction, and you can go there to bid high and bid often for the children of Bright School. There are a myriad of fun one-of-a-kind experiences for children, wonderful art and lots of great stuff.
Order Dinner for November 1
As part of this year's auction, you may order dinner to take home on November 1, which is the last day of the auction. Stay home and bid, bid, bid! For $50, you will receive your choice of lasagna, salad, garlic rolls and dessert to serve four people. The food is from Kozy Cooking, LLC. Please use this order form and turn it in with payment by this Thursday. Orders will be available for pick up on Thursday, November 1, in the afternoon car line and at the Bright Afternoons desk.
Art Party and Auction
Make plans to attend the Art Party and Auction this Saturday, October 27, from 5-8 p.m. Enjoy food and drink while bidding on great art (like this painting of the Bright School Picnic by Ms. Janie) that benefits the children. Each grade has made a special art project that also will be up for bid. Hosted by Sophie's Shoppe and AliAnn's Children's Boutique, 401 N. Market Street.
Scheduling and Car Line Reminders
If the after school plans for your child change from the normal schedule, please notify your child's teacher with an email sent the night before or first thing in the morning or include a note in your child's folder. If you must call the school, please do so by 2:30 p.m., but please be aware that classes and teachers move around in the afternoon and may not receive late messages. If your child goes to car line, and you do not pick up him or her, it is OK. Children left after the car line wait for a few minutes and are then sent to Bright Afternoons.

Please remember our car line, morning and afternoon, are cell phone-free zones! For the safety of our children and vehicles in the parking lot, please refrain from using your phone while dropping off or picking up your child.
What to Wear?
With cooler temperatures, please make sure your child is properly dressed. Children may wear jackets and coats of any kind to school, but they must take off those jackets and coats when inside the school. If your child is cold inside, he or she needs to keep a uniform sweater or sweatshirt handy.

Wednesday, October 31:  Students may wear orange or Halloween shirts with uniform bottoms. They also may wear Halloween socks and accessories like necklaces and headbands. Costumes and masks are not allowed.

Thursday, November 1, Pajama Day:  To celebrate the last day of the Pajama Party Auction, all students may wear pajamas to school on this day. Parents, please remember students will still be going to PE and recess, so make sure your child is dressed appropriately to be outside and active. Students must wear tennis shoes with their pajamas.
Text Message Alert Test
We will conduct a second test of the text message alert system on Tuesday. Please look for a text message from Bright School tomorrow. If you have already opted in, you do not need to take any action. If you have not opted in, please respond to the text with a Y. An email will follow the text. If you have questions, please contact Renee' Kropff at [email protected].
