Chat with Dr. Darria Tomorrow
Parents, alumni, prospective parents and friends are invited to hear Dr. Darria Long Gillespie '90 chat about her new book Mom Hacks on Tuesday, March 5, at 8:15 a.m. in the library.

Dr. Darria is an ER doctor and frequent guest on TV health shows. She will share some of her practical advice with us.

Signed copies of Mom Hacks are now available in the office for $10. Remaining copies will be sold at the event.
Drop by the Used Uniform Sale on March 5
The next used uniform sale is Tuesday, March 5, from 7:15 to 11:15 a.m. in the Treehouse, which is upstairs of the main lobby.
What Are We Building in the Field?
We had a special visitor during Monday Morning Meeting today: long-time Tennessee resident Davy Crockett (really, Mr. Parks dressed as the famous pioneer). Mr. Crockett was here to let everyone know he has chosen Bright School as the site for his new log cabin! Thanks to the generous support of the Schillhahn-Huskey Foundation, we are building a log cabin that will be used for educational purposes and storage for athletic equipment. The cabin will be made from salvaged wood from old log cabins. Construction will begin this week in the field on the far side of the GMAC (track).
Grandparents' Day Invitations
Students may invite grandparents and/or special friends to attend this year's event on May 3. The Parents' Association will send home forms this week for you to provide us with the names of people and their addresses for invitations.

Grandparents' and Special Friends' Day is very popular. Please be advised that the fire marshal has asked us to enforce the seating capacity in the Centennial Theater, where the main program will take place. Only grandparents and special friends may sit in the theater. Parents and other guests will be asked to sit in the library and watch a live stream of the program. Open House on May 2 is the event for parents to attend. We know both events will be fun for the students and their families, and we appreciate your cooperation as we try to accommodate a large number of people.
Parents' Association Seeks Volunteers for Next Year
Here is your chance to participate in the Parents' Association for the 2019-20 academic year. There are many jobs and positions available. Challenge yourself with a leadership role, a chairman's role, or take a support role on a committee. To learn more, please download this form. Willingness to Serve forms must be completed and returned to Kim Brown by 3 p.m. on Monday, March 18.
Sign Up for the Talent Show
Students in grades 2-5 are invited to participate in this year's Bright's Got Talent show on March 13 at 5:30 p.m. If you would like your child to participate, please download this form and return it to the office by Monday, March 4. You must fill out this form even if your child is participating in a group.

There is an informational meeting on March 8 at 3 p.m. that will last about 30 minutes. The practice session will be Monday, March 11, at 3 p.m., and the dress rehearsal on Tuesday, March 12, at 3 p.m. To perform in the live show, students must attend the practice and dress rehearsal. Acts are limited to between 2-3 minutes, and students must provide their own music, props and costumes. Music must be turned into Mrs. Kropff for approval before Friday, March 8.
ICYMI: Doodle for Google Contest Information
Students in grades 1-5 who did not attend last week's workshop for the Doodle for Google contest, there is a parent letter with more details. And you may download the entry form here. Designs are due back at school on Wednesday, March 13.
This year's theme is "When I grow up, I hope ..." Please see the parent letter for more information. If you have questions, email art teacher Thankful Davis at [email protected] or visit the Doodle4Google website.

Bright Scene
We celebrated Dr. Seuss's birthday all last week in classrooms, art, library and P.E., where students did activities around different Dr. Seuss books. Here, second graders Josie Card, Liam Jackson and Lila Taslimi, bounce around like the book Hop on Pop.
