October 14, 2019
What you need to know this week:
  • Enjoy the last day of Fall Break. School resumes tomorrow.
  • Three more days to sell! Charleston Wrap fundraiser ends Wednesday at 4 p.m.
  • Stop at the front desk in the lobby to sign in and sign out your child.
  • Cooler weather means coats, jackets, sweaters and sweatshirts.
  • Picture retakes rescheduled to October 30.
  • Admissions reminders: Play date is Thursday; don't park in reserved spot.
Charleston Wrap Ends Wednesday
We're making progress toward our Charleston Wrap goal! Thank you to everyone who is selling and supporting Bright! Remember, proceeds will purchase new furniture for the fourth grade classrooms, which will be used by students for years to come.

If you haven't yet, register your child on the website with the school ID z-11323. The sale ends on Wednesday at 4 p.m. Paper order forms are due to the office at that time. For all the details about prizes and how-to's, visit our webpage.
Front Desk Open for Business
The front desk in the main lobby is now where you stop to sign in as a visitor, sign out your child early or sign in as tardy or from a doctor or dentist appointment. Receptionist Elizabeth Jackson will greet and help you with anything you need. School secretary and nurse Kelly Jennings remains in the office across from Mr. Morgan and the bookstore.
Admissions Event on Thursday
The first admissions event of the year is the Playground Play Date on Thursday from 4-5 p.m. on the Early Childhood Enchanted Forest Playground. All prospective families looking into JPK, PK, and kindergarten for the 2020-21 year are invited to come play and talk with teachers. Please RSVP to Brooke Moore at [email protected].

This is an optional admissions event. It is not the official admissions play date that is part of the assessment. Those play dates will take place in late winter and early spring for admissions applicants.

Reminder: Please do not park in the spot reserved for admissions even if you are coming in for just a few minutes. This is for families coming for a tour, and many tours are held throughout the day. We want to make sure our prospective families feel welcome.
Brr! Make Sure Your Child Is Prepared
For chilly temperatures, make sure your child has the right clothing for going outside. Students may wear any jacket or coat when arriving and leaving school and playing outside at recess. Inside the building, students may only wear jackets and sweatshirts from the bookstore or white or navy sweaters, zip-up hoodies or sweatshirts with or without the house logo. Students may not wear other jackets or coats in the classrooms or elsewhere in the building. As always, please make sure these items of clothing are labeled with your child's name.
Picture Retakes on October 30
Picture Day retakes have been rescheduled for Wednesday, October 30. This is because picture proofs have not yet arrived and sent home. Those should be going home with your child later this week. If you ordered online, you may have received an email from Lifetouch with a proof of your child's picture. If you don't like the picture or your child was absent, make sure he or she knows to have a retake on October 30. Alerting your child's teacher would be a good idea. You do not need to fill out a special form.
