Phase-In Days Checklist
We are so excited to welcome students and parents to school this week! Teachers and staff have been preparing all summer. Everyone should have received an email with your child's phase-in day and a note in the mail from your child's teacher.

On the day of your child's Phase-In Day, remember to:
  1. Complete the Ascend online health survey, which includes a temperature check, at home before leaving for school.
  2. Wear a face covering. Everyone wears a face covering, including parents attending the Meet and Greet.
  3. Bring two face coverings to keep at school and a water bottle to fill up. There will be no direct drinking from the water fountains. Make sure to label everything with your child's name! Face coverings may be any color or design but not have any words except Bright School. Please no Baylor, McCallie or GPS masks.
  4. Show your Bright spirit! Students in grades PK-5 wear uniforms.
  5. Stay home if you are sick.
Meet and Greet with Teachers on Phase-In Days
There will be a meet and greet time for families and teachers each phase-in day from 8-8:30 a.m. After 8:30 a.m., parents leave and students begin their school day. All parking will be on campus.

JPK, PK and kindergarten parents and students will enter classrooms through the outside door to each classroom. There will be temperature checks for all parents, and face coverings are required. After parents drop off children in the classrooms, they should go to the Mondo play area (between the Early Childhood Center building and library) to pick out a rest mat for their children. Rest mats are $40 each and will be charged through the FACTS account. Purchased mats will then be delivered to the classrooms.

Grades 1-5 will meet at specified outdoor locations around campus. All teachers for that grade will be in one area, and parents will have time to meet their child's teacher before the school day begins. Parents of children in these grades will not enter the school building. Here are the locations for the meet and greets for grades 1-5:
First grade: Concourse
Second grade: Left side of the courtyard
Third grade: Right side of the courtyard
Fourth grade: Flag court on the Hill
Fifth grade: Peeples Pavilion
Online Parking Space Auction Ends Tonight
Do you want to have the best parking spot every time you come to school? Bid high for the children of Bright School on a FRONT ROW PARKING SPACE.
You will have RESERVED PARKING on PHASE-IN DAYS, and every other day, too! Auction ends tonight at 9 p.m.
Traffic Reminders - Obey the Traffic Officer
The start of school also means remembering how to navigate morning drop off and afternoon pick up. Here are some handy tips from Officers Willie Trueitt and Dewayne Prater:
  1. The speed limit is 15 along Hixson Pike and McDade Lane.
  2. Put away your mobile device. It is illegal to use one while driving in Tennessee.
  3. Do not piggyback on the car ahead when turning into McDade. Follow the directions of the police officer.
  4. Do not block the driveways along McDade Lane.
  5. Drive safely and be courteous!
Bright Afternoons Registration Required
Students must be registered to attend Bright Afternoons after school. There will be no drop-ins of unregistered students allowed. Please visit the Bright Afternoons page to learn more. Click below to register. Bright Afternoons begins next Monday, August 24.

Download the App
All JPK and PK and other new families should have received an email from ProCare prompting you to download the ProCare Connect app on your device. Families who signed up for Bright Afternoons also will receive an email that will contain a code needed to add your child's name to the app. Families will use a four-digit PIN to sign out children in the afternoons.
Health Monitoring with Ascend
All parents must complete the Ascend online survey each morning before children arrive at school. Please bookmark the link on your phone or device for easy access each morning.

We are using a website link for our daily survey. Do not download the app. For privacy reasons, our school's Ascend survey is not available as an app.

If you need assistance with your account, please call Base Camp directly at 423-680-6261 pr email [email protected].

On school days, you will receive a reminder email and text to log into Ascend and answer the quick questions about symptoms, current temperature, possible exposure and recent COVID-19 tests. The program will let you know if your child is cleared to attend school that day. If you have any health-related questions, please contact nurse Rachel Gentry at [email protected]. Contact your child's teacher if your child is not attending school that day.

Starting Monday, August 24, families will need to show proof of completing the Ascend survey. Please be ready to show your device screen with the check mark to school staff in the car line. If you have not completed the survey, you will be asked to pull over into a parking space to complete it.
What's for Lunch?
Lunch will be handled differently for at least the first trimester. Students will eat lunch in their classrooms or outside to prevent large numbers of students congregating in the dining hall. Grades PK-2 will pick up lunches in the hallways near their classrooms, and grades 3-5 will go to the dining hall to pick up lunches. Click below to review the menu for August. Children may choose the pre-packaged meal (entree with sides) and/or a pre-wrapped sandwich and sides that are noted below the menu on the website. Students have a choice of milk or water (using their water bottles brought from home). We will continue to support students with allergies and dietary restrictions.

Parents, guardians and others may not join their children for lunch while we are restricting visitors in the building. Cupcakes, doughnuts, cookies or other edible treats may not be brought for birthdays or other celebrations. Thank you for your cooperation.
Celebrate Birthdays with a Book
Birthdays will be celebrated differently at school this year since we will not have treats at lunch. Instead, you may join the birthday book club in the library! Your child will pick out a book that will forever be his or her birthday book. These library books have a special book plate in the front with your child's name and birthday. Your child will be the first to check out this book. Birthday books are $20 payable to Bright School Library. You may bring payment on the Phase-In Day and give it to your child's teacher or send it to school with your child. To sign up and donate, click below.
