Get Ready for Bonanza
Order forms for food, tickets and wristbands are due with payment on Wednesday. Food must be ordered in advance. Didn't get a form? Click here.
What is Bonanza? Bonanza is a carnival-like event for students and their families on Friday, September 20 from 4-7 p.m. at the school. There will be rides and games, and students will need tickets and wristbands to participate.

Next Friday is a half day, and all students dismiss at 11:30 a.m. There will be no Bright Afternoons to allow for set up at the school.

When to bring Jazzy Jars? Volunteers will collecting jazzy jars in the morning car line on Thursday and Friday this week. Remember, do not put nuts, anything that contains nuts or peanut butter, or things that melt in the jars.

Students may wear their Bonanza shirts on these Fridays: September 13 and September 20. Shirts are worn with any uniform bottom or shorts or skorts sold in the Bright 1913 Bookstore. There are some shirts still available in the office.
Bright Family Breakfast Tomorrow
Join us for breakfast in the morning! The second Tuesday of the month is Bright Family Breakfast in the school dining hall. It's $3 a person and lasts from 7 to 7:45 a.m.

Tomorrow's country breakfast includes:
Biscuits and gravy
Scrambled eggs
Breakfast ham
Grits
Fruit and yogurt
Assorted cereals
Cherry vanilla muffins
Coffee, juice and water
Celebrate Dot Day on Friday
Art teacher Thankful Davis and librarian Elizabeth Oakes are collaborating again this year to celebrate International Dot Day on Friday, September 13. Students are invited to participate outside of school by creating a work of art at home using this worksheet . Completed artworks are due Thursday, September 19.

Dot Day was inspired by the book "The Dot" by Peter Reynolds, and it celebrates creativity, courage and collaboration.
Schedule Your Parent Conference
The portal to sign up for parent-teacher conferences is now open. Conferences are September 26 and 27 for grades JPK-3 and all week for grades 4-5.

To schedule a time, go to the portal and type in your username and password. Next, click on Student Profile and then Teacher Conferences. Use the dropdowns to choose the day and time. If you have difficulty using the system, contact Renee' Kropff at [email protected].

Bright Afternoons will be available the half day and full day of the parent conferences. To sign up, please fill out this form.
Parent Literacy Night
Parents of students in grades 3-5 are invited to learn more about the reading curriculum and how to help at home on Thursday, September 12, from 6-7:30 p.m. in the library.

The upper grades at Bright have adopted the reading workshop model as part of the curriculum. After a general information session, there will be breakout groups on supporting your reluctant reader, growing your reader through book talks, and developing comprehension strategies. Childcare will be available.

Fifth Grade Admissions on September 16

Join Assistant Head of School Renee' Kropff to learn more about middle school admissions procedures and deadlines on Monday, September 16. You may choose to attend the morning session at 8:15 a.m. in the library or the afternoon session at 4:30 p.m. in the KEC. If you cannot attend either session please email Mrs. Kropff at [email protected].
Middle School Heads Panel on September 18
The heads of middle schools at Baylor, McCallie and GPS will discuss what to expect in middle school on Wednesday, September 18, at 5:30 p.m. in the Centennial Theater. Parents of students in grades 3-5 are invited.
Box Tops Information Coming Soon
Music Lessons
Registration is now open for fall music lessons through Girls Preparatory School's Cadek Conservatory of Music. New students should contact director, Albert Whiting, at [email protected] before registering. Returning students may begin registration at this link.

There are plenty of spaces left for violin.

Kindermusik classes will be starting soon at Bright. Kindermusik is open to parents and children ages 0-3. Check the schedule on the website. The cost is $60 a month.
