Return to School Pledge
Be Patient. Be Positive. Be Prepared. This is our pledge for our return to school and for remaining in school. Our reopening will require everyone – students, parents, faculty and staff – to be committed to respecting each other and being compassionate. This is a very difficult and stressful time but one of excitement and anticipation. We must cooperate with each other and be flexible in circumstances that are constantly changing.

Be Patient
Please be patient with one another. There are new rules for the school year such as wearing face coverings and completing an online health survey every morning. We must work together to create a safe environment at school.

Be Positive
There are many reasons to be positive even in these uncertain times. The first is that our children will be together again at school with their teachers and friends. Let’s be aware and cautious of the risks but not dwell on them.

Be Prepared
Prepare your child to expect different outcomes for this school year. This will not be a “normal” school year. We will not have many of the same events and activities as years past. We are beginning a new journey on a different path but one that leads to the same loving and nurturing place: our Bright School.

Finally, we ask that you share in our accountability for making good, healthy choices. If your child is not feeling well, we want your child to stay home and get better. Model good hygiene and practice frequent hand washing at home. Be positive about the benefits of wearing a face covering. Leave yourself a few extra minutes in the morning to complete the Ascend health monitoring survey. We are all counting on each other to stay safe.

Be Bright!
Listen to Mr. Morgan's back to school message. Share it with your children.

Students must bring two face coverings to keep at school and their own water bottles each day. Please make sure these, and the face covering your child is wearing that day, have your child's name on them. Items found that cannot be identified will be thrown away.

Phase-In Days, August 18-21
As you know, there is no Registration Day this year. Instead, we are having Phase-In Days for students to come in small groups, about four per classroom each day, August 18-21.

When Is My Child's Phase-In Day?
Everyone should have received an email notifying you of your child's Phase-In Day. If not, please contact Kendra Reasor at [email protected].

Students only come one day during the first week. It is a full day of school, and students wear uniforms. There will be no Bright Afternoons during Phase-In Days. Bright Afternoons will begin on Monday, August 24.

Who Is My Child's Teacher?
Teachers are sending special personalized notes to each child in the mail, and families should receive those this week.
Meet and Greet with Teachers on Phase-In Days
There will be a meet and greet time for families and teachers each phase-in day from 8-8:30 a.m. After 8:30 a.m., parents leave and students begin their school day. All parking will be on campus.

JPK, PK and kindergarten parents and students will enter classrooms through the outside door to each classroom. There will be temperature checks for all parents, and face coverings are required. After parents drop off children in the classrooms, they should go to the Mondo play area (between the Early Childhood Center building and library) to pick out a rest mat for their children. Rest mats are $40 each and will be charged through the FACTS account. Purchased mats will then be delivered to the classrooms.

Grades 1-5 will meet at specified outdoor locations around campus. All teachers for that grade will be in one area, and parents will have time to meet their child's teacher before the school day begins. Parents of children in these grades will not enter the school building. Here are the locations for the meet and greets for grades 1-5:
First grade: Concourse
Second grade: Left side of the courtyard
Third grade: Right side of the courtyard
Fourth grade: Flag court on the Hill
Fifth grade: Peeples Pavilion
Online Parking Space Auction
Do you want to have the best parking spot every time you come to school?

Look for an email later today with a link to bid on the best parking spot at school. The auction ends at 9 p.m. next Monday, August 17.
Back-to-School Forms and Fees
Medical Forms were due last Friday. Please turn them in if you have not already. All forms are online except the Epi-Pen and Inhaler Action Plans. Click below to access the forms. Email the Epi-Pen and Inhaler forms, if they apply to your child, to Rachel Gentry at [email protected] or print them and return to the school office.

Information Forms are due Friday, August 14. All of these forms are online.

Bright Afternoons
Registration is required for Bright Afternoons to help us plan for staffing. There will be no drop-ins of unregistered students allowed. Please visit the Bright Afternoons page to learn more. Click below to register.

Immunizations
All students must have an updated immunization form on file by the first day of school. Students in grades JPK, PK and kindergarten and any new students should receive a new form from their pediatrician when immunizations are updated each year. New forms do not need to be turned in after students have completed immunizations. Immunization records need to be on a Tennessee form. Please send these forms to nurse Rachel Gentry at [email protected].

School Supplies
Bright students do not need to purchase school supplies. All the supplies students need will be purchased by teachers and covered by the supply fee each family pays. JPK and PK students are given a book bag to use for school. Students in grades K-5 may use any backpack or bag of their choice. Grades JPK-K do need rest mats, and those are purchased through the school on the Phase-In Days (see Meet and Greet section above)

Fees
Supply fees were drafted through each family's FACTS account on August 7. Families who do not have a FACTS account need to turn in payment by the first day of school. For questions, please contact Sabrina McAllister at [email protected].

The fees are as follows:
JPK: $50
PK, K, 1, 2: $120
3 & 4: $125
5: $145
Health Monitoring with Ascend
All parents must complete the Ascend online questionnaire each morning before children arrive at school. Families will receive an email this week from Ascend by Base Camp Health to set up an account. Please bookmark the link on your phone or device for easy access each morning. Check your spam folder in case the email went there. If you do not receive an email, please contact Renee Kropff at [email protected].

If your child attended Bright Prep or Bright Care in July, and you used the program already, you do not have to sign up again.

On school days, you will receive a reminder email and text to log into Ascend and answer the quick questions about symptoms, current temperature, possible exposure and recent COVID-19 tests. The program will let you know if your child is cleared to attend school that day. If you have any health-related questions, please contact nurse Rachel Gentry at [email protected]. Contact your child's teacher if your child is not attending school that day.
