Serving People in Our Community
This year, we have worked on community service projects by grade. Most recently, second graders made cards and bracelets for child cancer patients through a partnership with the Austin Hatcher Foundation. (Mrs. Hurlbut's students show their work in the photo.)

Previously, fourth grade raised money for items to help homeless people, and fifth graders collected items for McKamey Animal Center. Third graders wrote letters and sent plush pals to children in the hospital. Look for information soon about a project in conjunction with Bright World week.

Families Love Math Night
All students and their families are welcome to attend Math Night on March 19. This event is 5:30-7 p.m. in the gym. Mathnasium provides activities and games that our teachers oversee. The class that has the most students in attendance will win a cupcake party with the Mathnasium mascot, Mr. A+! This is a fun event for all!
Doodles for Google Due Wednesday
Students in grades 1-5 who want to participate in the Doodle for Google contest need to turn in their designs to the office by this Wednesday. This parent letter has more details, and you may download the entry form here.
This year's theme is "When I grow up, I hope ..." Please see the parent letter for more information. If you have questions, email art teacher Thankful Davis at [email protected] or visit the Doodle4Google website.
Bright Afternoons Open on Half Day
Bright Afternoons will be available on March 22, which is the half day starting spring break. If your child is attending, please RSVP below.
Is your child coming to Bright Afternoons on March 22?

Yes, my child(ren) will be there.
Grandparents' Day Invitations
Students may invite grandparents and/or special friends to attend this year's event on May 3. The Parents' Association sent home forms last week for you to provide us with the names of people and their addresses for invitations. These forms are due back to the office by March 22. If you did not receive a form, download one here.

Grandparents' and Special Friends' Day is very popular. Please be advised that the fire marshal has asked us to enforce the seating capacity in the Centennial Theater, where the main program will take place. Only grandparents and special friends may sit in the theater. Parents and other guests will be asked to sit in the library and watch a live stream of the program. Open House on May 2 is the event for parents to attend. We know both events will be fun for the students and their families, and we appreciate your cooperation as we try to accommodate a large number of people.

Bright Scene
Last week, third grade presented "Backpack to the Future," a play written by teacher Allie Hyer. It is about two students who travel through time and discover a love of reading. Each decade from the 50s to today is represented by a book and song. In the 80s, there's Ramona Quimby Age 8. Above, Senna Mazzoni plays Beezus and Riley Headrick plays Ramona.
