Thank You for Your Feedback
Dear Parents,

Thank you for your recent participation in the SAIS Value Narrative Survey. The school has received the results of the survey, and these results will serve as one of many sources of information to help guide us in formulating our next strategic plan. Overall, your evaluation of the school's value was high, and we are thankful for your support. A few areas seemed to garner the most attention: safety and security, the cost of a Bright School education, and the level of diversity among students, faculty, and staff. These topics are not new to us, but obviously they rank high in the minds of many who care about the school and deserve discussion as we plan the future of the school.

In looking ahead, I do so with great hope and excitement, which is what this season of the year is all about. If there is one thing I learn from our children every day, it's that life is best when we approach it with love and joy in our hearts. While the world around us may, at times, look grim, children are like stars that remind us to have hope for what is best in all of us. How fortunate we are to be able to give them a great education and prepare them to carry their goodness into the world. They make us so hopeful, and they deserve the best we have to give them.

I send my best wishes to you and your families during this wonderful holiday season.

Sincerely,
Signature
Changes Coming for the Morning Drop-off Line
Starting on January 8, we will implement a new sign-in system for JPK and PK, which means we are changing the car lines in the morning drop off. Preschool licensing guidelines require JPK and PK students to be signed in, and we will be using iPads to code in PK families.

When we return in January, the morning car line will be split. Families with students in PK and K will drop off in front of the Early Childhood Center building. JPK families will continue to park and walk in. Drop off for grades 1-5 will be at the concourse. If you have a child or children in PK or K and an older child, please drop off at the ECC. The older child will then walk to the concourse entrance. We will have staff directing traffic to help with the flow and allowing vehicles from the ECC building to merge into the concourse car line. As mentioned in last week's Woodshop, we also will be implementing electronic sign-out for Bright Afternoons.

We ask you for your cooperation and patience with this new system. Please plan ahead to leave home a few minutes early and be aware of the extra time it may take to drop off while everyone gets accustomed to the new car line. Thank you!

Bright Scene
The fourth grade presented "The Scrambled States of America" last week. Fourth graders traditionally study the U.S. in their state projects. In the scene above, California, played by Stern Rushing, turns down the cheese offered by Wisconsin, played by Harriet Howard, because he is lactose intolerant.
