Thank You for a Great Bonanza!
Thank you to PA chairs Germaine Ehlinger and Jill Rafiee for planning and running a great evening on Friday. Thank you to all the parent volunteers and faculty and staff who helped make Bonanza so fun! Thank you to the custodial crew, which stayed late Friday to make sure campus was clean for this morning. See you next year!
Picture Day is Wednesday
Lifetouch will be here Wednesday to take individual school pictures. You should have received an order form in your child's folder or book bag. You may turn in that form with payment on Wednesday or order online using the Picture Day ID OS019176Q0 . If you have ordered from Lifetouch before, you have probably gotten numerous email reminders to order pictures.

These photos will be used in the yearbook, and all students will be photographed. If your child is absent or you don't like the photo, retakes are October 16.
Parent Conferences on Thursday and Friday
Conferences for grades JPK-3 are Thursday and Friday in your child's classroom. Conferences for grades 4-5 are all week in the KEC board room. Thursday is a half day with dismissal at 11:30 a.m. There is no school on Friday.

How do I reserve a conference time?
To schedule a time, go to the portal and type in your username and password. Next, click on Student Profile and then Teacher Conferences. Use the dropdowns to choose the day and time. If you have difficulty using the system, contact Renee' Kropff at rkropff@brightschool.com.

The portal for grades 3-5 has closed. The portal will close for grades JPK-2 on Wednesday.

What about child care?
Bright Afternoons will be available the half day and full day of the parent conferences. To sign up, please fill out this form.

If you just need child care during your conference, check in at the Early Childhood Center front desk. Your child may stay for the length of your conference at no charge.

Cadek Music Lessons
Albert Whiting, director of Cadek Conservatory of Music, will be in the library from 1-3:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday to answer questions and register students for music lessons. The B-term for lessons starts September 25. If your child is currently taking lessons, you will need to register for B-term if you have not already.

Lost and Found
The lost and found bin is overflowing! While you're at school, please check to see if your child has anything in it. Items left in the bin will be donated to the used uniform sale. The bin is located off the concourse near the main office.
Charleston Wrap Starts Next Monday
The Parents' Association's biggest fundraiser of the year begins next Monday. Charleston Wrap is the sale of wrapping paper, gifts, food, magazines and other catalog items. Our goal this year is $50,000 in sales. Proceeds will go toward purchasing new furniture for fourth grade classrooms. Last year's Charleston Wrap sales resulted in new furniture for first grade. Look for all the information coming home with your child next Monday. There will be more details in next week's Woodshop.
Ready for the New Admissions Season?
If you have younger children who would be applying as new students for next August, please contact admissions director Brooke Moore at bmoore@brightschool.com to start the admissions process.
Sign-In Reminders
If your child is tardy in the morning, a parent or guardian needs to bring the child into the office to be signed in. On the sign-in sheet, put the date, time, child's name (not your name), grade and reason. This will help us keep better records. Thank you!
Summer Travel to Iceland
Summer is a great time to travel and learn! Bright School is taking a group of students this summer to Iceland for a STEM-focused adventure, learning about geothermal energy and hiking on glaciers, just to name a few activities for this cool, hands-on journey. Students currently in grades 3-5 may apply to travel. Parents interested in sending their children on this trip should come to the information session at 8:15 a.m. on Wednesday, October 2, in the library.
Don't Be Worried about Middle School
The middle school heads from McCallie, GPS and Baylor spoke to parents last week about how to prepare themselves for their child's transition to middle school. Want to know more? Read our summary of the panel discussion. Click here.
