New Faces in Front Office
Starting this fall, we will have both a receptionist and a nurse/secretary.

Elizabeth Jackson (pictured at the right) will be the receptionist, and her desk will be in the front lobby. She will greet everyone who enters the front door. Mrs. Jackson, last year's PA president, is mother of Sophie '19 and John '16.

Kelly Jennings (pictured at the left) will be the full-time nurse and secretary stationed in the main office. Mrs. Jennings is a registered nurse, and has worked the last nine years at Memorial Hospital.
Teaching Changes
Fifth Grade
The new fifth grade math teacher is Matt Lauer. He has 17 years' experience in teaching and comes from Webb School in Knoxville. Mr. Lauer and Amanda Angel, who teaches fourth grade math, will share the responsibilities for teaching Math Academy.
Music
Cindy Beirne will return as our music teacher after serving as an interim for Stephanie Bowling last spring. Mrs. Beirne has been teaching music for more than 25 years. She taught for six years at Chattanooga Christian School before coming to Bright.
P.E.
We previously announced Ashley Linehart is the new P.E. teacher with Coach Jeff McDaniel. Coach Linehart taught P.E. at GPS and coached track, cross country, soccer and lacrosse.

First and Kindergarten
Two classroom teachers are moving to new grades. Mary Bosshardt will teach kindergarten, and Jana Evans will teach first grade.

Assistants
The new assistants in early childhood are Claudia Dickerson with Jill Johnson in PK, Molly Young with Bill Greene in kindergarten, and Delaney Driver with Mrs. Bosshardt in kindergarten. Sydney Graham is remaining with Jasmine Mathews in kindergarten after beginning as an assistant this past spring.

KEC
In the Kilbride Enrichment Center, we have created a new position. Marla McDaniel, mother of Wyatt who graduated in May, is the new part-time speech language pathologist.
BBQ and Bluegrass
Save the Date: Friday, August 9
Join us for a fun night of BBQ, bluegrass music by the band "Handpicked" and goat games to benefit the Building a Bright Future Capital Campaign.

This event is 6:30-9 p.m. at the school, and is for adults only. Proceeds from the tickets go toward the campaign. Tickets are $50 per person or $100 for a couple. Watch for an invitation by mail and more information with a link to purchase tickets by email.
Grab Your Boots
Early childhood classes will begin a new initiative this fall as part of the curriculum with a focus on outdoor learning. Children in grades JPK-K will have boots and rain jackets at school so learning can continue even if it's a little wet outside. Parents, watch for an email with more details coming soon.
Construction Zone
Work is going full speed to complete renovations to the first, second and third grade classrooms and quadrangle hallways by Registration Day. The glass company has been removing old windows and installing new ones this week. The first phase of the Building a Bright Future Capital Campaign also includes new HVAC and lighting.
After School Activities
Classes
The schedule for after school classes will be posted and open for sign up on July 8. Sign up will take place online, and all payment will be due on Registration Day, August 14. Watch for more information coming soon.

Music Lessons
Registration is now open for fall music lessons through Girls Preparatory School's Cadek Conservatory of Music. Last year, some 80 boys and girls took lessons through Cadek at Bright. New students should contact director, Albert Whiting, at [email protected] before registering. Returning students may begin registration at this link.
Foreign Language Survey
Thank you to all the parents who have taken the foreign language survey so far. If you have not already taken it and would like to, please click on the button below. Your feedback is important.
