Reminders for December
As the number of cases of COVID-19 continue to rise in our area, please remember to be vigilant and protect your health. Please follow these reminders to help us stay in school:

  • Keep face coverings clean. Cloth masks should be washed daily. Disposable masks should be used one time and thrown out. Please make sure your child's face covering adheres to the CDC guidelines found on this website.
  • Bright School will continue to notify parents, faculty and staff via email of any positive cases that would affect our community. While we continue to work with the Hamilton County Health Department in monitoring illness, the health department has announced it will no longer notify close contacts of positive cases or track their quarantines.
  • The health department also has revised its guidelines regarding the length of quarantine. Close contacts and household contacts who can be separated from isolated positive cases will be quarantined for 10 days. For more information about quarantines, please visit our COVID-19 webpage under Monitoring Illness or view the health department information.
Finish the Campaign
We're in the final stages of the Building a Bright Future Capital Campaign, but we need your help to finish it. As you may remember, we completed phase 1 renovations in summer 2019. We halted the renovations that were scheduled for summer 2020, but we're back on to complete both phase 2 and 3 in summer 2021. Click the button below if you would like to learn more, give now or pledge now.

In phase 1, we replaced the tile flooring with a new generation of resilient flooring and is durable and scratch-resistant. The floor requires no finishing, waxing, buffing or stripping, making it a low maintenance choice. Slip resistance, good acoustics and under-foot comfort for ergonomic relief are other reasons we chose the flooring. We plan to extend this flooring to the hallways outside fourth and fifth grades, science, and technology. Help us make this happen by contributing to the Building a Bright Future Capital Campaign!
neuroBridge Virtual Coffee on December 15
Parents of early childhood students are encouraged to join a virtual presentation by Sarah Powe, co-founder of neuroBridge and occupational therapist who works with children at Bright. This will take place next Tuesday, December 15, at 8:30 a.m. See the Zoom information below.

The professionals at neuroBridge have been working on material to share with families as we approach perhaps the strangest holiday season ever of perhaps the strangest year ever. Log on to learn more about:
  • Social/Emotional/Motor/Sensory Motor development
  • The impacts of multiple stressors (pandemic related) on development
  • How to stay "on track"

Holiday Pop-Up Shop This Week
The bookstore's annual Holiday Pop-Up Shop will take place this week. Students will have a chance to purchase holiday gifts for parents, grandparents, siblings and friends. The shop will be open December 9-11, and classes will visit at assigned times to maintain distancing and other health protocols. Before your child's visit, talk to him or her about what to expect and how to pick out gifts for family and friends (not themselves). Items include things like stuffed animals, jewelry, socks and stocking stuffers. Prices range from $1-$3 for smaller items to $20-$25 for hats and apparel. Parents can send cash with their children or provide credit card information on the sheet that went home last week.
Grades will be visiting the shop on these days:
Wednesday: fifth, first and Miss Sonal's kindergarten
Thursday: second, fourth, PK and JPK-3 days a week
Friday: JPK, Mrs. Katie and Mr. Bill's kindergarten classes, third
Spread #BrightCheer with Cheer Cart Drive December 14-18
wrapped_presents.jpg
Each year their children have been at Bright, the Oehmig family has hosted a gingerbread decorating party for their classmates with a donation drive to benefit the Cheer Cart at Children's Hospital at Erlanger. This year William and Sissy are in fifth grade, and, due to COVID-19, they will not hold an event. However, they are asking Bright families to donate to the Cheer Cart by bringing items on the wish list to school next week. Donations may be brought during morning car line December 14-18. As a gift in return, all students will receive a gingerbread house on December 18 to take home and decorate. We'd love to see pictures of your child's creation, so post them with the hashtag #Brightcheer.
Sign Up for Bright Afternoons on December 18
We are offering Bright Afternoons care after early dismissal on Friday, December 18. Bright Afternoons will be open 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you would like your child to attend, please sign up to reserve a space for your child. Click the button below to sign up.
Christmas at Bright School This Year
What to Wear
Students may wear holiday-themed shirts and accessories such as socks, hats and headbands with their regular uniform bottoms next week, December 14-17.

Free Dress Friday, December 18
Friday, December 18, our half day, is a free dress day, and we encourage students to wear comfortable holiday attire like jeans or sweatpants and winter boots because ...

Santa is Coming!
Instead of the traditional Christmas assembly with singing and Santa's arrival on December 18, Santa will visit the school and wave to all the students while sitting on the porch of the log cabin. Students will participate in a Jingle Jog around the track so they can see Santa. Kindergarten and fifth grade buddies will have their traditional photos taken with Santa (at a distance, of course.) So make sure your children are dressed warmly to be outside and are festive to greet Santa!

Decorations
Fifth graders made ornaments in art and shop classes that will be displayed on a tree in the office. Thank you to PA Decorations Chair Debbie Harris for decorating the school for the holidays!
