Tomorrow is the first day of Mr. Morgan's reading campaign called Read a Million Minutes. Everybody in our school community can participate and help us reach a million minutes of reading. Once we meet that milestone, Mr. Morgan is going to spend the day and the night reading on the roof of the school. This was one of the first (of many) crazy and silly things he did for the children of Bright School when he first became head of school in 2004. He wanted to end his tenure with a fun challenge to get the students excited about reading. Please see the video above for what teachers are showing the children tomorrow.
Here's how you can participate: Help your child keep track of reading at home. Each day's minutes will be recorded in the classroom. Every minute of reading counts! Use a timer or estimate time everyone in the home spends reading. This can be siblings, parents and anyone else who wants to participate. Track reading bedtime stories, reading the newspaper, reading online, reading for work, reading for homework, siblings' reading for homework, etc. We need all the minutes we can get! Let's get to that milestone and see Mr. Morgan sitting on the roof before the end of school.
