Twentieth Sunday After Pentecost
Sabbath Beginnings - Sacred Journey - Traditional Worship
WORD for Sabbath Beginnings 8am
Scripture Text:   2 Corinthians 9:11 (NRSV)

Worship Leader:  Rev. Jim McChesney

Holy Communion : Extravagant Generosity: The Grace of Giving

WORD for Sacred Journey 8:30am

CORE for LYFE, Week 5 (Extravagant Generosity)
Reflection: This week, Rev. Judith Banya, pastor of Baiwalla United Methodist Church in Sierra Leone, visits Sacred Journey to share her faith journey. A survivor of civil war, a woman of faith, and a beneficiary of extravagant generosity through Methodist mission schools, Judith has made it her life’s work to see that others have the opportunity to become the people they were created to be. Her dream of a thriving school that offers a safe place to receive academic instruction and spiritual formation is coming true, in part because of our commitment to live and give like Jesus. As we celebrate her presence with us in worship, we will also share in World Communion Sunday, and renew our joy in being part of God’s family.

Question for reflection:  Who shaped your perspective on generosity and faith? How do generosity and gratitude connect in your life?

WORD for Traditional Worship 10am
Scripture Text: 2 Corinthians 9:9-11 (NRSV)

Preaching:  Rev. Judy Zabel

Reflection: Rev. Judith Banya will be sharing her inspiring story at both 8:30 AM and at 10:00 AM.  You will not want to miss this. Her story about how God has used many generous people to bring hope and vision to this woman is amazing and powerful.

See you Sunday.

For the Children and the Adults in Their Lives: Sunday is World Communion Sunday, a special day when churches across the world make an effort to take communion and know that their sisters and brothers everywhere are doing so, too. We are all God's children, all across the world! God made us all different - and that is a gift! - and God also made us all to be loved by God. Do you know anyone who is from another country? What questions do you have about what that country is like? If someone asked you about the United States, what would you say it's like? If you know someone that's from somewhere else, how are you the same? How are you different? What a great thing God brings us together for communion!
