Dear (Contact First Name),
Welcome to November!
You've enjoyed the summer, survived Hurricane Sandy, and off we go into November. Enjoy this brief glimpse into where I have been and where I'm going. Maybe you want to go there too!
This is a palette I used in the mural painting.
It's paper on a wet sponge.
OFF the Easel...
On Halloween I completed the last of my big summer projects: the 12-panel mural for
Dean Robert Camlin Architect & Associates of Westminster, MD. We'll be hanging it next week and I'll be able to get a photo that is not foreshortened. I took this photo teetering on a tall stool!
Soon the tables will be covered with piles of shirts to be hand-printed with my woodcut and linocut images. Take a look at the images I'll be printing in the coming weeks. Let me know if you want some. They make great gifts. Click to see my images available.
Custom-Created Rya Rug is COMPLETE!
I know I told you I would post a picture of it in the next (this) newsletter, but the opening exhibition at the Laura Reynolds Gallery in Austin, TX is this weekend (Nov.3), so the rug still can not be revealed until after the opening.
But I'd like to share with you a little bit about the artist, Francesca Gabbiani, who commissioned me to make the rug of her design. Take a few minutes to see her unique work in this video. It's really worth watching.
The "Lowdown" on my Fall Show Schedule:
Doing a show is a lot of hard work, so I am very picky about where I apply and where I continue to go. Here's the lowdown to help you decide whether to go or not:
1. The Mistletoe Mart Thursday, Nov. 8, Fri. the 9th , and Saturday, the 10th at The Church of the Ascension Episcopal Church in Westminster, MD by the Court house. For more info on the Mistletoe Mart, click here. Why go? Because the leaders of this event go to great lengths to bring in 50 of the best artists and specialty shops to ensure a QUALITY holiday show. I mean you will really want to do all holiday shopping at this show and then buy some for yourself while you are at it. For me it is three exhausting days, but totally worthwhile.
2. The BazaArt at the American Visionary Art Museum (AVAM) on Key Highway by the Baltimore Inner Harbor. Free on Saturday, Nov. 24. Check out their BazaArt link "Why go?" you ask? For FUN! To get away from the house after Thanksgiving ... to laugh and ooh and ahhh. Forget crazy mall shopping. Come here and see some of the most fun and creative handwork on the east coast. You will want to look in every booth because not to, would be really missing a smile and potential unique purchase. The organizers try to make sure this event has mostly very affordable artsy items...like my $25-30 hand-printed shirts!!!
3. The Carroll County Artists' Studio Tour is the first weekend of December (1st and 2nd). Byrdcall Studio will have its doors open for you to see a real working studio. I'm generally not open to the public without an appointment, so this is a great opportunity to just drop in. Bring your friends. In fact take a look at this link... Plot out a driving route to see as many studios as you like. Most have refreshments and make it a fun experience. Note that a few stops on the Tour have relocated so that all studios are accessible to all. See chenges on the website--which by the way is an excellent place to view participating artists' works before hand. I really hope to see you all here Dec. 1-2. Studio Tour details-click here.
Yes, I am Accepting Orders Now.
Since my BIG projects are done, I am ready to take any orders you may have for hand-painted glassware, or custom-printed shirts, hand-painted visor-hats, small wall murals, etc.
(Elaine, Look, I almost have your seasonal tree wine glass order done. I may finish painting today! woo hoo!)
And finally, friends,
Thanks for your interest.
I love getting your comments and feedback!
Have a boutiful fall.
PS Feel free to forward this newsletter to anyone who might enjoy it. Thanks.
