2 Corinthians 5:4-8 (NIV)

4 For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. 5 Now the one who has fashioned us for this very purpose is God, who has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. 6 Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. We live by faith and not by sight. We are confident; I say and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord.

The past few months have been the most intense of my life and I have had some seasons of intensity. These months of struggle ended one week ago when we made the decision to move my dear wife, Virginia, from a medical unit to a Palliative Care Unit of the hospital. When I made this decision Virginia relaxed and began to say her goodbyes. She had been trying to prepare me for months but I refused to listen. My wife was suffering and the suffering had reached the point of exhaustion and she knew that there was nothing that the Doctors could do to fix her "tent." The healing that she longed for would come from God. She is now home in his presence and she has received her reward.

Virginia DePina Faulkner received her ultimate healing Friday, February 28, 2014 at 6:15 pm.  She was surrounded by family and friends.  The hospital wing was filled with New Horizon family, kids and all.  It was great! She was not alone.

Her home going Celebration will be held on Monday, March 10, 2014 at the Trinity Baptist Church at 250 E 61st St, New York, NY 10065. There will be a final viewing at 11am and the service will begin at 12pm and will be followed by a reception at the Church.

We are asking people in lieu of flowers to please donate to the Blue Harbor Fund. This is a fund that has been established in Virginia Faulkner's name to support children and youth programs at New Horizon Church. We want her legacy of love and nurturing of children to continue. Please visit the New Horizon website today and give or you can send your donation to New Horizon Church 245A West 135th Street. New York, NY 10030. Please put Blue Harbor Fund on the Memo of your check.
