Using References and Other Resources
Students using WordBuild are often reminded to make use of references within the program (prefix & suffix references) as well as from outside sources. Two of our favorites are:
A Dictionary - A few of you Luddites out there may still use a printed dictionary! Since there are over a million words in the English lexicon, picking up an unabridged dictionary can now qualify as an exercise program! For the more technically oriented,
dictionary.reference.com is a wonderful resource.
An Etymology Reference -
etymonline.com is tough to beat if you want to know a complete history of just about any word. If you're not sure about the root in a word, this is a great way to find out.
