Words of Encouragement

Matthew 25:21 “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’” (from the Parable of the Bags of Gold)

Stewardship is an important focus this month at CSMSG. Typically, we celebrate and inspire parishioners’ pledges with a pancake breakfast. I will miss seeing the excited faces of parishioners young and old as they catch piping hot pancakes on paper plates.

While we are unable to mark the occasion with pancakes for all, the importance of stewardship persists. It is a meaningful time to talk with your children about how, just as Jesus’ parable of the Bags of Gold illustrates, they can use God’s gifts and blessings to spread His love. You might ask them about their special talents (you can help them by telling them about things that you think they do well) and brainstorm creative ways to share their talents with others.
This Sunday, October 25, at Children’s Eucharist, children may pick up a box of offering envelopes to take home. There is an envelope for each week that they may return during Children’s Eucharist. You may discuss with your child an appropriate and thoughtful way to use the wonderful gifts God has given them. They may choose to put a portion of their allowance in the envelope or they may choose to write down something they’ve done during the week to share their talents.

Also, this Sunday, in the Beatitudes curriculum we look at the sixth blessing “Blessed are the pure of heart for they will see God.” This lesson especially supports what we want our children to understand about stewardship. Purity of heart guides us to make outward choices that demonstrate love for Jesus. It’s not too early to show your children how they can make a difference by sharing their gifts and spreading God’s love in the world.

Acts 20:35
In everything I did, I showed that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said “it is more blessed to give than to receive.”
