Like everyone, we have tried to make the most of our situation during the pandemic. Since we’re homeschooling this year, we decided to begin each day by saying Morning Prayer (from the Book of Common Prayer) together as a family. Last year, we got in the habit of attending the midweek Eucharists in St. Mary's Chapel at The Church of St. Michael & St. George. That isn’t possible right now, but in the meantime, we’ve been enjoying the Daily Office at home. That doesn’t mean that it’s always peaceful and idyllic. Far from it! Just as Lucia (our two-year-old)

made it a habit during the Eucharist services of running around and making a joyful noise to the Lord, she is determined to make Morning Prayer a boisterous affair, and there is never a dull moment.

Here are a few select quotes from the Clem girls, reflecting on this experience so far:

“Lydia (age 12), Sophia (age 10), Agatha (age 6), and Lucia (age 2) each have their own prayer book.”

“Every day Lucia passes out the prayer books. She gets extremely angry if someone else does it.”

“Lydia and Sophia read a scripture lesson aloud each day.”

“It has been interesting attempting to read the weird / hard words in the readings.”

“Agatha likes how we have our own prayer requests prayed for at the end.”

“Morning Prayer happens at 8:00 every weekday [parental edit: when everyone is awake and ready].”

“We take turns snuffing our prayer candle at the end.”

“It’s especially nice that we get to do Morning Prayer because we are unable to go to church during the week.”

As you might imagine, it’s been a bit of an adjustment for our family, and we’re learning as we go along. But it’s also been a tremendous blessing. We pray for our church family every morning, and we take comfort in the fact that we are all joined together through prayer.

Please register to attend Sunday's 10:00 AM in-person, indoor worship service by 11 PM Saturday.

Entry and exit for both the 8 AM and 10 AM indoor services are through the Ellenwood doors. Parking for these services along Ellenwood Avenue is encouraged.

The 9 AM outdoor service is on the Wydown Playground, and parking along Wydown is encouraged.

Those following the Sunday online service at 10 AM may download the Sunday Morning Prayer service leaflet posted on the web. We join with one voice in the Worship of the living God.
