BRT  Chairman Oberhelman Makes Case for TPP, Comprehensive Tax Reform
Business Roundtable Chairman Doug Oberhelman, Chairman and CEO of Caterpillar Inc., stressed the importance of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and business tax reform on Wednesday in his first media roundtable as head of BRT. Oberhelman said business was "very hopeful" about passage of TPP this year, noting bipartisan support for the agreement. "Trade will go on in the Pacific - with us or without us. If we're not part of the growth, we'll be left out," he told reporters. Oberhelman also argued for the Export-Import Bank (reauthorized late last year) as an important tool for U.S. companies to compete globally. On tax reform, Oberhelman made the case for both modernizing the U.S. international tax structure and lowering the world's highest corporate tax rate.
