Work resumes at the Karcher Interchange

Crews will resume work on the Karcher Interchange starting on Tuesday, May 26. Expect impacts and delays in the area until work is complete. Work includes paving SH-55 in the area around the bridge, installing overhead signs, bringing new signals into service, applying hot chipseal and placing the final pavement markings.



Expect lane closures at night with traffic shifted to one side of the road and one lane open in each direction through late July.
 

Karcher Interchange Bridge closures on

May 26, 27 & 28
 

Crews will close lanes nightly on the Karcher Interchange Bridge from Tuesday, May 26 through Thursday, May 28. These lane closures will allow crews to install overhead signage and pave SH-55 where it ties into the new bridge deck.


One of these nights will require a full closure of the bridge to allow overhead sign installation. A date has not yet been finalized due to the availability of resources. We will give advanced notice once we have a date.

What's next
 

Additional work includes:

  • Hot chipsealing new asphalt to extend its service life
  • Painting stripes and applying crosswalks
  • Bringing new traffic signals into service
  • Finalizing the new configuration of the interchange
