AGC/VT Weekly Contractor Update

April 27, 2026

Remember why it matters:

WORKERS MEMORIAL DAY

Workers’ Memorial Day is a chance to stop for a minute and remember the people who didn’t make it home from work, and the families and crews who still feel that loss.

It’s also a reminder of why we do what we do. Safety isn’t just rules or paperwork. It’s looking out for the person next to you, speaking up when something doesn’t feel right, and taking the time to do things the right way.

Richard and Ben host a memorial ceremony to honor those who have lost their lives or been injured on the job, and reflect on why the work around safety matters.

3 Things VT Contractors Need to

Know This Week

  1. Contruction projects are ramping up across the states. Use our ready‑to‑go materials to prep your crews for a safe season.
  2. Legislature is advancing housing, permitting, and capital spending decisions. Late-stage policy changes could still impact bids, timelines, and who can compete for the work.
  3. Spring safety courses are available. First aid, flagging, MSHA refreshers, and fire alarm training are open for registration.

Week 15 on the Jobsite (AKA the Statehouse)

This week at the Statehouse felt like that phase of a job where the framing’s up, inspections are looming, and everyone suddenly realizes the plans still need a few clarifications.

Lawmakers are deep into the back half of the session, and the focus has shifted from big ideas to what actually gets built, funded, and enforced.

For contractors, the takeaway is pretty straightforward: There’s work coming, some red tape is finally loosening, but a few late‑stage policy choices could still affect bids and schedules.
