Hello! My name is Cheri Adams. I am originally from Jennings, Louisiana and moved to Lake Charles, Louisiana in 2010. I am a mother of one child, a daughter who is a 2025 Spring graduate from Texas State University. I moved to Lafayette in 2020 from Lake Charles, due to Hurricane Laura. I previously worked as the Medical Staff Credentialing Specialist for The Eye Clinic Corporation of Lake Charles which entailed maintaining State and Federal regulations, records, and licenses for 12 Ophthalmologists and 4 Optometrists as well as 6 different office locations. I served at The Eye Clinic for 7 years in my position before moving to Lafayette. I continued in the credentialing field at Curana Health when I moved to Lafayette and was presented with an opportunity to do what I love, which is helping others achieve their goals. Although I enjoyed being a Credentialing Specialist, in November 2023, I made the decision to become one of Eckerd Connects' Resource Navigators for their partnership with DCFS in a new program called The DCFS Employment and Training Program. I made this decision because I felt it was time for me to follow my passion to impact the lives of others in a positive way. In September 2024, unfortunately the program ended, and I was offered another opportunity with Eckerd Connects to become an Adult/Dislocated Worker Career Coach with Acadiana Workforce Solutions. Upon accepting the offer, I was excited to continue to assist others in a life changing way. Recently, opportunity presented itself with a promotion which I gladly accepted for the position of Adult & Dislocated Worker Program Manager. I value people, which includes my coworkers as well as the participants I serve.
I am glad to be part of a team that makes a difference in the community, and I look forward to serving, learning, and growing with everyone here at Acadiana Workforce Solutions.
