The Greater Charlottetown Chamber of Commerce has launched a workforce advocacy letter campaign, looking for federal support on two asks. We are aware that this is a province-wide issue, as they plan to send these letters to all Island MPs.
Like many other businesses across the province, they face ongoing challenges in maintaining a stable workforce to meet their operational needs.
If this is affecting your business and you would like to request support for closed work permit extensions (3 years) for non-permanent resident employees who have been with their employers for more than a year. This measure would allow businesses to retain skilled workers and ensure continuity in operations, without having to constantly replace experienced staff due to permit expiration.
