Highlights from the recent report include:



  • From February 2023 to February 2024, the unemployment rate in Tulare County increased by 1.6 percent.
  • From February 2023 to February 2024, the labor force increased by 4,900 people, and employment increased by 900.
  • The February 2024 labor force of 216,800 represents the largest February labor force in Tulare County since 1990, as far back as data is available.
  • In February 2024, Educational & Health Services saw record-high employment levels.

HOW DOES TULARE COUNTY'S UNEMPLOYMENT RATE CHANGE OVER TIME?

The California Employment Development Department (EDD) reported a 1.6 percent increase in Tulare County's unemployment rate, from a revised 10.7 percent in February 2023 to 12.3 percent in February 2024.


From January to February of 2024, the unemployment rate increased by 0.4 percent.

HOW MANY JOBS HAVE COME AND GONE IN THE LAST YEAR & THE LAST MONTH?
YEAR OVER YEAR | A COMPARISON

From February 2023 to February 2024, Educational & Health Services showed the greatest year-over numerical gain with an increase of 2,200 jobs, while Arts, Entertainment & Recreation showed the greatest percent gain with job growth of 22.2%. Durable Goods (Manufacturing) showed the greatest year-over numerical and percent decreases with a loss of 200 jobs, or 6.3 percent of jobs.

MONTH OVER MONTH | A COMPARISON

From January to February 2024, Farm showed the greatest month-over numerical gain with an increase of 500 jobs, while Arts, Entertainment & Recreation saw the greatest month-over percent gain with job growth of 10.0 percent. Transportation, Warehousing & Utilities and Retail Trade shared the greatest month-over numerical decrease with a loss of 100 jobs. Transportation, Warehousing & Utilities showed the greatest percent decrease with a loss of 1.0 percent of jobs.
