Oakhurst and Madera Job Fairs
The Madera Workforce Assistance Center hosted two successful job fairs during the months of March and April. Every spring the events are held in Oakhurst and Madera.
On March 22, the Eastern Madera County job fair attracted dozens of job seekers who were able to engage with fifteen employers from different industries, including hospitality, healthcare, retail, and tourism.
The Madera Job Fair took place at the Madera District Fairgrounds on April 5 th . The Hatfield Hall saw more than 60 employers in jobs ranging from manufacturing to healthcare. The event was sponsored by the Madera County Department of Social Services and was staffed by the Madera County Workforce Investment Corporation. The purpose of the event was get employers connected to job seekers in one location. More than 270 job seekers were present.

Recruitment Events at MCWAC
Several businesses are using our facility to recruit and interview candidates. This convenient service avoids unwanted foot traffic at their place of business. During the past months the business services team had the opportunity to assist employers such Amazon, California Prison Industry Authority, Pitman Farms, E&E Foods, Cornerstone Staffing and Insight Personnel.

The unemployment rate in the Madera County was 7.3 percent in April 2018, down from a revised 8.2 percent in March 2018, and below the year-ago estimate of 8.9 percent. This compares with an unadjusted unemployment rate of 3.8 percent for California and 3.7 percent for the nation during the same period.  

*Central Valley counties include: Fresno, Kern, Kings, Madera, Merced, San Joaquin, Stanislaus and Tulare.

No Cost HR Hotline
The Workforce Development Board of Madera County and Sierra HR Partners have partnered to provide you with expert Human Resources information. The Madera County HR hotline is designed to handle questions from employers regarding Human Resources issues such as:

Employers Wanted
Interested in helping the Community Corrections Transitional Program participants sharpen their employment skills?   
The Mock Interview Day experience will help the CCTP participants to better understand the process of interviewing and applying their skills to a job. The participants will spend approximately fifteen minutes being interviewed by one of the many volunteers. Following the exercise, they are provided with immediate verbal feedback from their interviewer.
