Local Business Spotlight
Axis Coffee Shop and Eatery will be opening soon at Tesoro Viejo Town Center. The business is staffing their team and is currently looking for hard working, passionate employees who want to learn and grow with a new company.

The Business Services team from the Workforce Development Board of Madera County is assisting this new business with their hiring needs. Recently a job fair was held at the HUB Welcoming Center.
Mental Health In The Workplace Workshop
The The Workforce Development Board of Madera County hosted a Mental Health Workshop on September 11, 2018. They partnered with Madera County Behavioral Health and California Rural Legal Assistance who facilitated the Workshop. 15 employers attended. The information received will help employers to better understand disorders such as anxiety, depression, and schizophrenia.

The unemployment rate in the Madera County was 6.2 percent in August 2018, down from a revised 7.0 percent in July 2018, and below the year-ago estimate of 7.3 percent. This compares with an unadjusted unemployment rate of 4.3 percent for California and 3.9 percent for the nation during the same period.
