Operating Engineers Apprenticeship open until September 14th


Ready to start a career in heavy equipment? The apprenticeship application is open until September 14th. Accepted applicants must attend training in Palmer (with room, board, and lunches provided) and work 5-6 days a week for up to 12 weeks. While the training is free, be aware that you will not be paid during this period. 


The apprenticeship requires 6000 hours for operators, 8,000 for mechanics, or 5,000 for service oilers, taking 3 to 5 years to complete. During this time, you'll work with the coordinator to be placed with a contractor. Quitting or refusing a job is not permitted- you must go where assigned, whether Prudhoe Bay, Cold Bay, or Juneau. Aviation Day


Alaska Airlines is proud to host its first Aviation Day in Anchorage on Friday, September 12th, for youth ages 11-20. The event will occur from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Alaska Airlines Hangar, located at 3600 Old International Airport Road in Anchorage.

The free event aims to inspire aviation dreams in young people in our local communities. Aviation Day provides the opportunity for young adults to learn about the various paths in the aviation industry and educational paths to a career.
