Wonderful water tests everywhere!

Thank you to all the regional clubs and all the regional club volunteers who worked so hard to make this year‘s water test season a splashing success.

Many regional clubs included all breed tests, provided phenomenal water seminars and provided tadpole tests to encourage new people to the sport. It was great to see so much camaraderie and fun happening across the country all summer long with our delightful Newfoundland dogs.

The Working Dog Committee has been hard at work creating easy online access for post-test evaluations, and the links for Water Tests are included in this issue.

We are also excited to share some breaking research news from the Penn Vet Working Dog Center on strategies for dealing with heat exposure and information on conditioning your canine athlete.

We welcome input from our members on all the things working with your Newfoundland requires. Please let us know about any specific challenges in water work or draft work you would like us to address in the coming year.

Evaluations Are Now Electronic

The NCA has moved to an electronic platform for collecting test evaluations from entrants and judges. If you haven’t had a chance to complete your evaluation of your test this year please do.

Entrant's Evaluation

The NCA takes evaluations seriously and appreciates the extra time it takes to give us your thoughts on what things we need to celebrate what things we might need to adjust and also what things might be a problem for the future. We appreciate every entrant who completes these needed evaluations.

Water Test Judges can complete their test evaluations online as well

Judge's Evaluation

As we enter Draft season, draft evaluations will be online soon, so look for the links to these forms to be posted in the Working Dog Forms directories under Draft Forms.

Test secretaries can copy and paste the links and email them to exhibitors. There’s also a QR code for the link to be able to access it on your phone directly from the test site.

If you have questions about accessing or submitting evaluations, please contact Cindi Kursner.

As you prepare for the winter season and all kinds of holiday parades, tree pulls, and other fun activities that your club does with dogs please send us some pictures! We would love to see all the fun ways that your club incorporates our breed’s working instincts and traditions!

Judges Reminders

Remember to submit your evaluation forms from each judging assignment.

We are offering a new option for email on the NCA website. You may now enter a "public display email" in your member profile. This will allow you to have a designated email address just for public display, so you can easily sort and find communication coming from the NCA website, and to protect your private home or work email from scam, phishing emails or mass marketers.

To add a public email, go to the Member Portal, select "My Profile" then select the red "Edit Profile" button. Add the email address you wish to use in the "Public eMail Address" field. Then click the red "SAVE" button at the top of the page.

You may wish to get a free email address through Gmail or other service to use specifically for this purpose.

We celebrate all test committees for their hard work and dedication to working events!
