DONATE TO BREAK THE CYCLE OF POVERTY

Hello, MCUM supporters!

I hope you’ve had a great summer. I cannot believe we are in the final few days before the kiddos go back to school. Hazel is about to start kindergarten, so we have been soaking up all the last few moments at Compass Early Learning Center. I will miss seeing her throughout the day, but I take great comfort knowing she is leaving here truly ready for the school year ahead – biggest of thanks to all of her wonderful teachers over her 4 years here!

Meanwhile, we are also gearing up to celebrate our 85th anniversary of serving Monroe County and I hope this newsletter will inspire you to participate in one or more ways. We have a special effort with the Community Foundation where we are looking to add $17,000 to our endowment - $8,500 to honor our past and another $8,500 to pave the path forward. Will you help us? All donations up to $20,000 will be matched! Please click here to make a contribution.

We are also looking for stories about your experience with MCUM – whether you’re a Compass alumni, a former board member, someone who has used our food pantry, a volunteer, or something else! Please email jstallsmith@mcum.org with your MCUM story!

Looking forward to another great month ahead. Thanks for your support!

Christmas in July

As we enjoy the warmth of summer, Monroe County United Ministries (MCUM) is gearing up for a special event that brings joy and support to our community: Christmas in July! This festive occasion isn't just about swapping Santa hats for sunhats—it's about spreading cheer and making a meaningful difference in the lives of local families and children.

At MCUM, we're currently seeking generous sponsors to fulfill classroom wishlists. These lists are filled with essential supplies and educational materials that will greatly benefit children in our community. Whether you're an individual looking to make a difference or part of a group such as a church, club, or friend circle, your contribution can have a lasting impact.

Not only does participating in Christmas in July bring smiles to children's faces, but it also offers a practical benefit for sponsors. Donations to MCUM are tax-deductible, making it a win-win opportunity to give back while maximizing your tax benefits. Consider browsing our wishlist and selecting items that resonate with you or align with your group's interests. Your support, no matter how big or small, helps us continue our mission of empowering families and individuals to achieve financial stability and independence.

Join us in celebrating the spirit of giving this July by becoming a sponsor for MCUM's Christmas in July initiative. Together, we can make this summer season brighter for our community. For more information on how to get involved or to view our wishlist, please visit here or contact us directly.

Thank you for your continued support and generosity. Let's make this Christmas in July one to remember!

85th Anniversary

As we approach our 85th anniversary, we invite you to share your stories of support. Whether you've volunteered, mentored Compass students, navigated parenthood with us, donated, or worked alongside us, your experiences are integral to MCUM's history. Each story reflects the impact of our community's collective spirit and kindness. Please contact Jenna to share your anecdotes, reflections, and memories. Together, let's celebrate 85 years of making a difference and continue building a thriving community for all!
