Planning Tip
Building an emergency fund is a critical part of any sound financial plan. Whether you are retired or still working, you never know when an unexpected medical expense or car or home repair may arise. Most sources suggest keeping 3-6 months' worth of expenses that are easily accessible in case of an emergency. To help avoid using the cash for non-emergencies, it's a good idea to keep the funds somewhere separate from your primary spending account. Having an emergency fund can make all the difference in turning what may have been a major problem into just a small inconvenience.
