Workshop Your Business - Integrate Improvement into your Company Culture

Tuesday, April 15, 2025 (1:30 - 3:30 PM)

What’s in Store?

Are your team members at times resistant to change? Do you see two people doing the same thing, just differently? Is communication a problem? This discussion presents concepts around developing a Culture of Continuous Improvement, which addresses the challenges that every organization experiences on a daily basis. The Culture of Continuous Improvement is built on four areas of improvement:

  • Strategic Alignment
  • Igniting innovation and accepting change
  • Developing and empowering people
  • Problem solving through establishing processes

Your customers can see the products and services you provide, they can even see how they are delivered if they are delivered well, but they don't see the culture that supports those results and the leaders that coach their employees and empower them to solve problems on a day to day basis. We will present these principles and have conversations around how they can be realized in your organization.

Canada Avoids “Liberation Day” Tariffs but Major Risks Remain on the Horizon

On April 2, President Trump unveiled the details of the much-anticipated U.S. reciprocal tariffs measures at his “Liberation Day” press conference.

The reciprocal tariff executive order introduced a universal 10% tariff on all imported goods that took effect on April 5, followed by further tariffs on dozens of named countries to take effect on April 9. The stated intention of the executive order is to impose tariffs that match the tariffs and trade barriers imposed on the U.S. by other countries. However, this has been widely disputed given the reciprocal tariff rates are based on bilateral trade deficits that are themselves not equivalent to foreign trade barriers.

The White House fact sheet for the reciprocal tariffs and subsequent reporting make clear that Canada and Mexico are presently exempted from the latest reciprocal tariff measures. Although this is positive news for Canadian businesses, Canada is already facing significant tariffs — with new tariffs likely on the horizon. Major manufacturing sectors — steel, aluminum and automotive — are facing section 232 tariffs. Other key Canadian exports, most notably lumber products, also remain targeted by pending section 232 investigations. The Trump administration has also threatened section 232 investigations of other key exports for Canada, including pharmaceuticals.

4 Ways to Enhance Hospitality in Your Restaurant With Technology

Restaurant owners are catering to diners who want personalized, memorable experiences, but they’re also dining in more ways than ever: in person, through takeout, and delivery. They also expect great service every time. Three in four Canadian diners rate their dining experiences positively, but nearly half of them expect the restaurants they visit to add or keep value offerings in the next year, according to Square Future of Restaurants data.

This is where technology comes in — not to replace the human side of hospitality, but to make it easier to deliver the kind of service that keeps people coming back. With the right tools, you can offer seamless ordering, thoughtful personalization, and loyalty programs that make every guest feel valued, whether they’re grabbing a quick lunch or ordering dinner from their couch. Read Square's article to learn how.
