Meditation focuses on quietening the mind, allowing us to switch off the constant chatter that occupies our minds. When we bring ourselves into the present moment, we are no longer worrying or anxious about the future nor are we pondering our past. Regular meditation can help us deal with daily stressors and bring us into an awareness of peace and alignment. The benefits are endless. Reducing the stress response in the body can boost the immune system, lower blood pressure, focus the mind, improve poor sleep patterns, regulate digestion and promote an overall feeling of wellbeing. Connecting to our intuitive self An introductory evening with Carmel Robb Friday 4th February 2010 7pm - 9pm Cost €25 Carmel will be giving a talk covering different levels of intuition. She will be exploring how we use our senses, thinking, feeling and psychic ability to connect to our spiritual self and at times our spirit guides. Everyone has access to this information however if we are blocked in any way it stops the flow.
Carmel will then be offering a more in-depth 4 week group on Tues night commencing 8th February .
During the four weeks you will have an opportunity to explore your intuitive ability and practice 'Reading' information that is available to you for your Highest Good and possibly the good of others. Introduction to Massage & Aromatherapy with Laura Hillliard-Brady and Michelle Delaney Saturday February 12th 10am - 4pm Cost : €80 (Bring a friend along for half price) This 1 day workshop is an introduction to the basics of massage and aromatherapy. Upon completing the workshop, participants will receive a certificate from the Walmer College and Holistic Centre. The aim of this workshop is to experience the relaxation of massage through the practice of the massage strokes as well as through receiving a massage. Learn massage strokes (Back Neck and Shoulder Massage) for use on family and friends. Explore the many uses of Essential Oils with massage, around the home and in day to day life. Each participant will get to give and receive a massage over the day. Please wear comfortable clothes and bring two large bath towels with you.
Advanced Massage Techniques: Expand your Strokes with Laura Hilliard-Brady Monday 28th February 2011 10am - 3:30pm Cost : €75 A fantastic day of learning for past students and qualified therapists. Learn how to expand your strokes to include deep tissue technique and regain confidence in your posture. A great day if you are looking to brush up on your massage, would like to re enter the Holistic field after time away or time out for you as you have the opportunity to give and receive a massage. Friday mornings 10:30 - 11:30 Pilates is a form of exercise based on core strength. This is when the deep internal muscles of the abdomen and back work together to strengthen the body and support the spine. During our classes we teach correct breathing and spine alignment to strengthen your core muscles which will increase strength, help alleviate or even prevent back pain, promote flexibility and tone of the body. Class numbers are small to ensure individual attention.
Baby Massage Date: 8th - 11th Feb 2011 Cost: €630 for the 4 days Baby Massage Ireland offers the highest professional standard of Infant Massage Instructor Training courses, which are accredited by the International Association of Infant Massage (IAIM) Student come from many different and include health professionals, therapists, child care workers and parents. The course is run over 4 days and is taught by experienced International IAIM Trainers.
On the Training you will learn: " The History of Infant Massage and the IAIM " The Benefits and effects of Infant Massage " Infant Massage techniques and how to adapt them as the child grows " Infant Cues, crying and behavioural states " Marketing and Promoting your Infant Massage class " Communication, teaching and group facilitation skills " Contra-indications " Bonding and the relationship between massage and bonding " Infant and Child development " Touch research " Massage for special situations, including premature babies, colic and other special needs " Massage oils During the 4 days you will get to see a parent class being taught and also get to do some of the teaching.
At the end of the 4 days you will take home a written exam and will have to teach 5 parents 5 sessions of Infant Massage. This unique one-day course is approved by the CThA & the CMA. It has been designed especially for therapists who wish to extend their skills and learn a facial treatment using natural products, some of which you will make on the day. A Natural Facial consists of cleansing, toning, warm compress, face pack and massage of the face and neck. It can be used as a treatment in its own right or as an add-on to another treatment. A Natural Facial will leave your clients with a vibrant, radiant appearance and have them coming back for more! You will give and receive a full treatment on the day.

This one day course offers therapists an opportunity to add this fascinating therapy to their range of treatments. Ear Candling which has gained popularity in recent years as we seek natural forms of healthcare, is a gentle, non-invasive therapy that is easy to perform and beneficial to receive. It is soothing and helpful for conditions experienced by many of us - such as headaches, compacted ear wax, sinus problems, tinnitus, pressure problems and much more. It is also a very relaxing therapy in its own right and helpful with the treatment of stress. After the course, you will be able to offer your clients an ear candling treatment combined with a specialised massage of the face, ears, neck and scalp. Topics covered include the history of ear candling, contraindications and benefits, common ear, nose & throat disorders, anatomy & physiology of the ears, nose and throat as well as practical sessions. You will give and receive a full treatment on the day.
