A warm welcome to Suzanne Lonergan, WE CAN's Director of Advancement and Donor Relations. In this role, Sue joins us to implement an integrated development strategy to support WE CAN’s program growth and the achievement of our strategic goals. In partnership with Siobhan Clune, WE CAN's Director of Development, and the entire WE CAN team, Sue will develop annual and multi-year plans and initiatives aligned with our programmatic and strategic goals. And, as if that were not enough, she has also jumped in to implement our 20th Anniversary activities and assist with the planning, execution, and follow-up of WE CAN events. Lisa Guyon, WE CAN's Executive Director, says, "Sue joins us at an exciting time as we enter our third decade of work. She brings a caliber of skills and experience that provide greater depth to an already strong team in leading WE CAN's mission forward."
Sue comes from a strong leadership background. Formerly the VP of Corporate Communications for COMDEX, she was responsible for messaging the key benefits of 2,000 leading technology companies to worldwide media for nearly a decade. Her focus then shifted to nonprofits and creative fundraising initiatives. Sue has worked with The Anti-Defamation League, The Boston Harbor Island Alliance, The Finger Lakes Wine Center, Boston Arts Summer Institute, and Heritage Museums and Gardens, and more. She's directed the strategic development of a new national park, helped launch of a collaborative education initiative, created and implemented a successful Anniversary Event, and conceived and mapped out an arts festival. In all of her roles, her focus has been on nurturing the relationships that are the cornerstone of an organization’s success.
Now that she has joined the team at WE CAN, Sue says, "It is a privilege to be part of a woman’s journey when she has had the courage to ask for help at a critical crossroads in her life, and feels respected when she receives the necessary life skills to reach her goals, strengthen her family and her community."
Sue raised her two sons in Concord MA, and moved to Cape Cod in 2013 with her side-kick Golden Retriever - Cowboy, once again ready for change and the life experiences that come with taking chances. Together, she and her husband Steve share six grandchildren who ensure that every free moment is an adventure.
