World Car Awards
, co-hosted by the
New York International Auto Show
, announced the finalists today in this year's six World Car Awards categories. International accounting firm KPMG named the top ten finalists for the overall World Car of the Year as well as the top five finalists for each of the other categories.
A jury of 86 distinguished international automotive journalists selected the following finalists by secret ballot based on their evaluation with each candidate as part of their professional work.
2019 World Car of the Year winner will be selected from the following 10 finalists that were chosen from an initial list of 40 contenders. The Top Ten World Car of the Year finalists are, in alpha order:

2019 World Urban Car will be chosen from one of these top five finalists:

There are five finalists in the
2019 World Green Car category. They are:

Again this year, the cars eligible for the
2019 World Car Design of the Year award could be any of the contenders competing in the six award categories.
The five finalists chosen by the design panel for the jurors' final vote are:

The Road to World Car is an annual journey in partnership with the New York International Show. The journey follows more than 80 international journalists as they test-drive, and vote on, the 2019 eligible vehicles. The official launch took place in Paris on September 19th and will end when the winners are officially declared in all six categories at an awards ceremony that officially opens the New York Auto Show on April 17, 2019.
