World Day of Prayer for Vocations: April 25
We are just one month away from the 58th World Day of Prayer for Vocations on April 25, 2021. According to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, "The purpose of World Day of Prayer for Vocations is to publicly fulfill the  Lord's instruction to, 'Pray the Lord of the harvest to send laborers into his harvest.'"

Serrans have taken this instruction to heart as their mission everyday, and so are charged with amplifying the message on April 25.

Click here to read Pope Francis' message, Saint Joseph: The Dream of Vocation, composed specifically for this event. We encourage you to share it in your club's newsletter.

Materials and resources to promote World Day of Vocation in your parish are available from our partner, Vianney Vocations.

Serra Membership Coordinator Eileen Lee's Favorite Chicago Churches

Chicago is a mini Rome - who would have ever known! Here are my favorite places to visit to pray and to admire the beauty of the Catholic faith.

This is my favorite place to enter into prayer in the city.  They have a beautiful iconic monstrance of Our Blessed Mother and 24 hour adoration (the only church that has perpetual adoration in Chicago). This church has a rich history and is one of the oldest parishes in Chicago. This church has become a second home to me.

Saint Mary is my favorite church in terms of design and imagery. I love the image of Our Lady above the altar - I think it is a masterpiece. This church has a special place in my heart since I have family that have been married here.

This church is very underrated in the city. It is a gorgeous church that is unfortunately not used often. I believe the altar has over 100 angels on it - truly remarkable.

St. John Cantius is known for the celebration of the Latin High Mass. Two years ago, this church was ranked among one of the top 10 most beautiful churches in the United States. It has beautiful dark wood that surrounds most of the church. It is truly another site to see.

Our Lady of Sorrows is another masterpiece. I was blown away by how big and rich this church is. It has several side altars all devoted to Our Blessed Mother with remarkable statues. Every corner you turn you see rich imagery.

If you have time and don't mind the travel, this shrine has a very special place in my heart. The shrine is run by the Franciscan Brothers who have become family to me.  It is the national shrine of Saint Maximilian Kolbe. The walls of the church contain many relics and they have a museum for St. Maximilian. The inside is gorgeous. The shrine has 24-hour adoration and is my favorite place to pray and worship. Across the street is also Mundelein Seminary, highly recommended for a visit - it is gorgeous.
