April 7th of each year marks the celebration of World Health Day. This day has been celebrated since 1948 and highlights a specific health theme that is a priority area for the World Health Organization.
Building a fairer, healthier world for everyone is this year’s theme. The past year has undercut health gains, pushed people into higher rates of poverty, and has dramatically increased food insecurity as well as social and health inequities.
This year, there is a call to action to eliminate health inequities. The World Health Organization believes that it is a fundamental right of every person, regardless of race, religion, political perspective and economic or social condition, to have access to the highest standard of health.
