American Sign Language (ASL) students have opportunities to learn the basics or advance to the next level. American Sign Language (ASL) (12352) begins Tuesday evening, January 9, 2024. Those who have taken the first three ASL courses with Gianna Hittmann or who have a comparable understanding of vocabulary and syntax may register for the next course in the sequence, American Sign Language IV (12351), meeting on Wednesday evenings starting January 10, 2024.
Claudia Schwartz returns to lead Advanced Beginner German (12400) on Tuesday afternoons. New to SAS, native German and Portuguese speaker Isabel Kozmann will teach Intermediate German (12399) on Tuesday mornings. Both German classes begin on January 9, 2024.
Spanish at multiple levels is also in the schedule. Beginner Spanish (12403) will meet Wednesday evenings, starting February 28, 2024, with Patricia Almanzar. Advanced Beginner Spanish begins online (12394) in the morning on Thursday, January 11, 2024, with Michelle Haiek Zooming in from Venezuela, and in person (12402) starts in the late afternoon on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, with Almanzar. Haiek will also lead late morning Intermediate Spanish (12396) and mid-morning Advanced Spanish (12397), both starting starting Tuesday, January 9, 2024.
In a format that emphasizes practicing discussion skills, three levels of conversational classes are in the lineup as well. Almanzar teaches Conversational Spanish (12401) starting Wednesday afternoons on February 28, 2024. Shaun Johnson will lead Intermediate to Advanced Conversational Spanish (12398) late Tuesday afternoons beginning January 9, 2024. Haiek moderates Advanced Conversational Spanish (12426) on Thursday mornings, beginning January 11, 2024.
