"Advancing Leadership in Health Research, Education, and Disease Surveillance"
July 31-August 8, 2024
| |
Not even 36 hours of torrential rain from Tropical Storm Debby could deter this group of Kazakh public health officials, researchers, and epidemiologists from an outstanding program in Tampa Bay! They even managed a "Sunrise Sail" (their Sunset Sail the previous evening was cancelled due to lightning!) and a World Partnerships "Dinner Diplomacy" reception with the Thrive DTSP community (sponsored by a grant from Global Ties U.S. and Marriott International).
Thanks to Baycare St. Anthony's Hospital, the Florida Department of Health in Pinellas County, USF Health, USF College of Public Health, and Tampa General Hospital for their commitment to making this a valuable and memorable program.

Help Build More World Partnerships! | |
On Saturday, May 11, 2024,TMSSW journeyed to our Pinellas County barrier island treasure on the Gulf of Mexico, Fort DeSoto Park for a volunteer activity and a comuunity cookout, sponsored by the St. Petersburg Police Department and World Partnerships, Inc. The TMSSW participants were joined by SPPD officers, Pinellas County Sheriff's officers, members of the Meridian team from Washington, community volunteers from Historic Bethel AME Church and and 33 "Men in the Making" - an SPPD role-modeling program for youth at risk.
After planting over 2,000 salt marsh grasses, our TMSSW volunteers enjoyed a cookout for over 100 at a pavilion by the beach, and relaxed on the Gulf of Mexico beach.
Another way World Partnerships brings the World together with our community!

Social Media Influencers Tackle Climate Change
July 12-18, 2024
| |
"Wow, that was a cool experience!" remarked one of our weather influencers after a particularly thunderous evening storm. In a place where monitoring the daily weather is an essential part of everyday life, what better place for these weather influencers to spend a few days interacting with journalists, meteorologists (WFLA's Chief Meteorologist Jeff Berardelli, above), marine scientists, regional planners and climatologists than Tampa Bay?! Add in a Sunrise Sail into the Gulf of Mexico and a "Community Hospitality" event, and you'll see why they came here!

"Dinner Diplomacy"
Debuts
at Thrive DTSP!
For nearly 25 years, World Partnerships has pursued novel and innovative ways to engage IVLP participants with our Tampa Bay community.
This year, thanks to a competitive “Dinner Diplomacy” grant from Global Ties U.S. (our national membership association) and Marriott International, World Partnerships was able to add a new concept of hospitality and open it to a whole new audience – end-of-the-day receptions at the co-working community of Thrive DTSP, where we relocated our office at the end of 2023.
In July and August 2024, IVLP participants from India and from Kazakhstan enjoyed good food and fellowship as World Partnerships hosted them for receptions at Thrive with invited guests and community members.
