As we dive into the new year, we are honored to highlight this diverge range of events that align with our mission to foster trade dialogue and facilitate international business connections, including:


  • The Women Business Collaborative honoring the Director General of the World Trade Organization Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, with the 2024 Trailblazer in Gender Equity and Diversity Award for her contributions to society through innovative economic advancements.
  • A conversation with H.E. Radovan Javorčík, Ambassador of the Slovak Republic on the history of U.S.-Slovakian relations and the future of bilateral collaboration.
  • Destination D.C.'s Global Marketplace which included a global ambassador panel discussion on the competitive advantages and challenges that the city faces in attracting international visitors to the city.
  • The Washington International Trade Association (WITA) for their annual International Trade Conference to discuss trends in international trade with over 150 attendees present.
  • A conversation with the H.E. Lilit Makunts, Ambassador of Armenia on the critical issue of climate change and the goals for Armenian-American relations.

Trailblazer in Gender Equity and Diversity Award

World Trade Center Washington, D.C. proudly hosted the Women Business Collaborative for their presentation of the Trailblazer in Gender Equity and Diversity Award to Director General of the World Trade Organization, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. Dr. Okonjo-Iweala was honored as an exemplary woman leader who has made significant global contributions in the realm of trade and economic prosperity. She was joined for a panel discussion with the Chair of the Board of Directors for EXIM Bank Reta Jo Lewis, and Director of the U.S. Trade and Development Agency, Enoh T. Ebong,

WIPG Evening Conversation with:

H.E. Radovan Javorcik, Ambassador of the Slovak Republic

In late January, the World Trade Center, D.C. and the Washington Intergovernmental Professionals Group (WIPG) co-hosted a conversation with the Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to the United States, His Excellency Radovan Javorčík. During his remarks, the Ambassador discussed the deepening diplomatic ties between the United States and Slovakia, highlighting collaborative efforts in trade, security, and cultural exchange.

2024 Global Marketplace

TCMA teamed up with Destination DC (DDC) to host the 2024 Global Marketplace, a signature program by DDC showcasing international travel trends for both leisure and business to Washington, DC. The event welcomed over 300 professionals from the travel and tourism industry. Destination DC, the leading organization responsible for managing and promoting Washington, DC as a premier global destination, places a particular emphasis on the arts, cultural, and historical communities. The conference featured discussions by DDC international representatives from Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Mexico, and the United Kingdom, sharing insights on their respective markets and strategies to attract visitors to Washington.

Explore Uganda On A Gorilla Tracking Safari

It was an honor to collaborate with the Washington International Trade Association (WITA) for their 2024 Washington International Trade Conference, which brought a unique blend of virtual and hybrid programming to the RRRB/ITC. Centered around the global trade landscape, the conference delved into the nuances of 2024 emerging trends in international trade and even included a discussion on trade as a foreign policy pillar with Ambassador Catalina Crespo-Sancho of Costa Rica, Ambassador Esteban Moctezuma Barragán of Mexico, Ambassador Jovita Neliupšienė of the European Union, and Ambassador Lui Tuck Yew of Singapore. Renowned as one of WITA's flagship events, the Annual Trade Conference attracts a diverse audience of trade policy professionals from across the United States and around the globe.

WIPG Evening Conversation with:

H.E. Lilit Makunts, Ambassador of Armenia


It was a delight to welcome back the Washington Intergovernmental Professionals Group (WIPG) for a conversation and reception with the Ambassador of Armenia to the United States, Her Excellency Lilit Makunts. During her remarks, the Ambassador discussed ongoing challenges that the Armenian people face and initiatives currently undertaken to build stronger relations with the United States and other allies. It's always a pleasure to welcome members of the diplomatic community, industry associations, and other private sector partners for insightful and engaging discussions.
